Since reading this earlier I did some research and Google does modify search results to try and best match your personal preferences. I spent an hour putting all sorts of search criteria into Google to find this P47 but never got any matches whereas Ace got it first go. Anyway, I installed the DuckDuckGo plug in for Chrome and it seems to be working very well. Only took a couple of minutes to do and doesn't appear to have slowed up my PC.

In that case I'm definitely trying it - and Brave !

John Lee, you are a legend, thank you ! Will have a look at DuckDuckGo - not that I've ever heard of it.

I have acquired this model but have no idea what it is, can anybody help? It's looks like a ARTF kit rather than plan built but is built up construction. 65" wingspan. I have spent an hour or so googling and the closest I can find is a Hangar 9 P-47 Thunderbolt. Some bits like the cowl look like the Hangar 9 one but I can't find any pictures of the exact model so maybe an early version?

I've started using MacGregor covering film which I think is the same as the Hobbyking stuff. It's pretty good - not as good as Oralight but about a third of the price.

I've got an electric war bird with a 4 blade 10.5 x 8 prop. I want to change this to a 2 blade, can anybody tell me what size I should use?
-
Just assembled one of these but the C of G in the instructions says 70-75mm back from where the wing meets the fuselage. This seems quite far forward to me and with the recommended 3S 2200Mah it needs a lot of lead to get it to balance. Something doesn't seem right. I can't be the first person to have this problem - just wondering if anybody else has got one and what they found to be the best solution.
Thanks.

Thanks Denis, I will do that.

Does a collette prop adapter thingy have to be pushed fully onto a motor shaft? I am assembling a Dynam P51 Mustang v2 and if I push the collette fully on to the motor the Spinner would not clear the front of the plane. Could I pull the adapter forward by a few millimetres otherwise I would have to remove the motor and build up the motor mount. There is still a good amount of motor shaft to do this. Any thoughts?
Thanks.

Thanks Matt, I will have a look.

Thanks Murat, that will be a great help.

Ah yes, the Watts Up, I had forgotten about that one. I think I'm going to plump with the Elan. One of the other members of my club is also interested in building an Elan so at least we can have some friendly competition on an even keel. Thanks for your help.
-
Thanks Gary, they are both nice looking gliders. I can't find the flair kit anywhere so might just get the Elan and see how that goes. I enjoy building so it doesn't matter if it's not perfect and I can keep a look out for other options in the mean time.

Thanks Frank, will keep an eye out.

Thanks Frank, I will have a look at those two models.
Thanks Gary, funny you should mention the Elan as that is one I have been thinking about building for a while now. I'm probably not going to compete so can't really justify a full carbon model even though I would love one. It was the aerofoil section that put me off the Elan a bit as I assume it's a fairly old design and not that thin. It does seem to handle wind quite nicely on the slope though in John Woodfields videos.
Cheers.

I want to build a thermal glider for stronger winds (over 10mph) and wondering what to build. I would like a full kit rather then plans / short kit if possible. It also needs to be self launching with an electric motor. I have recently built a Introduction F5J which is fantastic in light winds so something along those lines but faster / heavier would be the sort of thing. I don't want to spend thousands on a full carbon F5J as it's only for sport flying at my local field. Any suggestions ?

Thanks for the quick replies ! I've got some thicker plastic sheet in the garage so will do some testing on that.

I've been building from plans / kits on and off for 40 years but my latest couple of builds have run into a new problem. These were both built up wings where the ribs slide on to a carbon spar and thin CA is used to soak in and fix the ribs in place. Same with the really thing carbon LE. In order to protect the plans I covered them with cling film which works but I get left with a horrible cling film / CA glue mess on the bottom of the ribs where the CA has either dripped down or has soaked through the balsa. Sanding it all off takes almost as long as building the wing in the first place. Anybody got any tips to stop this?

Thanks all. I will do some more research or failing that I will have a go at designing something myself.

Does anybody know of any plans or kits (not foam) that are designed for an 80mm EDF? I am looking for something that will take the FMS 80mm unit from a Bae Hawk. There seem to be some for both 70mm and 90mm but I can't find anything for 80mm.
-
Thanks Kevin, that's the one ! John has very kindly offered to send me the magazine / plan. This forum is great - I have given up all hope of finding a copy after searching high and low on the internet. One post and I have all the help I could ever ask for !

Thanks Rory, yes I loved flying mine, it was especially good at scratching along a ridge in really light winds.
John, what a star, thank you so much. I will pm you!
Wot4 Mk3 IC engine recommendations
in Sport, Aerobatic and 3D kits

Has anybody put a Saito FA-100 into a Wot4 Mk3 ? Wondering how well matched it is and if not, what other engines are recommended. I would like maximum power but minimum noise so leaning towards 4 stroke.
