  1. Thanks Mike, I have done a little more investigation and i think i could well be a problem with the low speed needle, At idle there was an awful lot of fuel burbling out the top of air intake and when pinching the carb fuel line running became noticeably smoother, so i kept on leaning out the low speed needle, still got an unreliable idle though down towards 3500rpm, but now carb has stopped drawing fuel !!!!! I have done a leak test on all fuel lines and tank all is airtight. But no fuel pressure unless i put finger over muffler outlet..... Starting to scratch me head with this one  Tony
  2. Hi all  Got an RCV 58cd setup in a super chipmunk, Engine is well run in as per the manual but i cant get it set-up to idle reliably. The engine is setup inverted using an OS F Fourstroke plug. I am using Model Technics Propower 10 with 18% EDL2, 10% Nitro with Sical. Prop used is an APC 12 x 6 as recomended by RCV. With this setup RCV manual says i should be getting a max rpm of 8500rpm (i am achieving 8400rpm) with an idle of between 2200rpm and 2500rpm and this is where my problems are, i cannot get a reliable idle less than 4000rpm !!!! Oh it is also fitted with an onboard glow that kicks in at approx 1/4 throttle, I get a good bright glow on the plug when it is energised  Has anybody had experiance with this engine that can give me some pointers ??? Thanks Tony Bryan
  3. As Terry said,  That is a great idea Eric  Cheers Terry & Eric  Tony
  4. Thats a great idea eric, I knew there would be simple ideas out there somwhere Thanks  Tony
  5. Over the years I have assembled numerous ARTFs and built several full build kits and I always get the same annoying problem when fitting contol horns, the ones with 3 screws and a backing plate. Now things ar`nt so bad when fitting to flat sheet flying surface but does anyone have any tips when drilling thro ailerons etc to get the screws lined up with the holes in control horn, no matter how carefull i am i always get a mismatch........  Any simple ideas, greatly appreciated Cheers Tony
  6. only just checked when coming to join the wings to be honest, Its not that the cores have warped, One of the cores at the root has a different wing section to the other core.
  7. Thanks for the reply alan, I actually did what you have suggested over the weekend, I ensured that the tips were correctly aligned and at the correct dihederal, This meant that the roots were no whay near matched but some extensive perma grit and p-38 work has made for an accpetable result and as you metioned this will be hidden by the epoxy and glass bandage. So thanks all for your help just very dissapointed at the quality of the cores, all other foam cores i have worked with have been a ok.
  8. To be honest i did consider that, But i believe that the business has changed hands twice since i purchesed the kit, so i had sort of decided there would not be much mileage in that
  9. Hi all First post on here but think the site looks great, I have a dilemma. I purchased a 55" spitfire kit from Cambrian models a couple of years back and have only just got round to building it. Now this kit uses foam cores and building was progressing will till i came to join the two wing halfs, the two cores do not match, the wing section of both cores are way different and whichever way i tried to join them i am left with a massive mismatch and i must say i`m very dissapointed. HAs anyone else built this kit and had the same problems ? if so how did you reolve it ? I am now considereing looking for a kit with built up wings as a home for my spare RCV 58 but i must say i`m struggling to find a spit or hurricane to suit this engine.........
