Hi DannyUsing the supplied u/c not impressedMay need to upgrade.

Well had three flights now, on a APCe 16x8 and all lacking a little aurthority. Will try with a 17x10 to see what it's like in the air.Under carriage keeps folding on landing.Difficult to keep on it's wheels when taking off, keeps tipping forward. Needs to be held back on full throttle and then let go, very un-scale like...And this is on cut grass

Test flew at the weekend, what a plane ...The ali spinner was a pain to balance so I went back to the painted plastic one spent a day shimming the back plate until the nose was central. This sorted the vibration problem.Going to work on the tail wheel doors they keep jamming, will try a simpler set up with the door fixed to the axel like the main wheels. With the massive batteries I can get 15min flat out or 18min scale. And she looks lovely in scale mode...

Guys your generosity is heart warming, thank you.
Had another look at the 100mm plastic spinner I got from HC. Ran the motor as slow as possible and watched the tip wiggle back and forth.
This will now only be used for static display with a 5 bladed mock prop.
I am so please with the look and finish I got, thanks to all your good ideas in this thread that I am going to invest in a nice ali spinner.
Scott in answer to you question a few comments ago, electric as Danny suggested but on two massive 5800mah 3s in series shoved right behind the motor.
Did I mention the landing lights when the u/c comes downI went for the biggest batteries I could get as nose weight was advised. As it was with this lot in the front I had to add 60g of lead to the tail .I did make the arrester hook but the tail wheel does not come down very far and it fouled the ground. Will need to re-do the mechanics a bit while I wait for the new spinner to arrive. -
yeah tried that TimBack plate and prop together are ok no vibrationbut I think the bolt hole in the tip of the spinner is out of center. This I think is problem and the only solution I can think of is trial and error running it on the motor. Thanks

Nead some more help please.can't balance the spinner.Balanced the prop and the back plate but I can't get the spinner to balance.I ran it up to full power with the back plate and prop on no problems. As soon as I put the spinner on the vibration is awful.Tried several times to balance the spinner using the spinner on the back plate but I think the hole in the tip of the spinner is not centredAny ideas on how I can balance the spinner......

Hi guyslove the idea, will see If I can get a pass.Just one thing, I have seen similar planes flying in formation and it's very easy to mistake which plane is yours and you end up trying to fly the one next to yours. And yes I have seen planes flown into the ground.God I sound negative, sorry, still sounds like a good idea.

Hi guysGetting close to finishing the plane, will post some pics soonStill a bit confused with the position of C-of-GHelp please
-
yeah seen them but it's a bit bigger and 4s set upthe Graupner was balistic on a 28mm 4000kV out runner and 3sall nice and light and better still cheap.Especialy with the speed they flew at with 350w on tap I could out pace 600w Fun-JetsFirst one fliped inverted on the second flight, I got disorientated and plowed it into the ground at 30mph or 40mph, it was like confetti everywhereThe second one got a bit hot and de-soldered the plug on the ESC and I lost control while being chased by two Fun-JetsWant to buy another as all the gear still works but can't find one anywhere.....

Ok I know this is an old thread but I have had two tigersharks and thier fantastic.Alas both deadwhat's the modern day version now.........?

Some advice please
The C of G is stated at 6 to 7cm back from the leading edge of the wing, measured at the wing tip.
This I understand, however most measurements are usually given at the wing root.
What position did you set your C of G and should I check this with the plane inverted?

In my naivety I just looked up LeFe cells on the HK web site and a 3s Li-Po of similar capacity with good recommendations from buyers.
A123 – one pack $69.99 / 1.6 = £43.74
Li-Po – 2x$37.20 / 1.6 = £46.50
Are these not the same quality as you recommend?

OkA123 - at 4500mah 6s2P 900g and around £44Li-Po - 2No 5000mah 3s1p 740g and around £47
I would need to buy a charger as well. All my chargers don't do LiFe
The 2 Li-Po packs I could use in other air frames.Thats a lot of extra weight and the batteries would be dedicated to only one plane.....but I see where your comming from.
On 6 LiFe did you change the motor and what prop did you use.Was the extra weight a problem. -
Haven’t thought that far.
Will probably cut the cowl and make a hatch to access them from underneath
Did you ever get a multi blade prop to work? -
Hi Danny
Brought all the bitts, will be using Li-Po'sPainted the air frame, added invasion stripes
Brought a 100mm spinner and painted with a red pattern, I know not consistent but looks niceFitted the wings out, modified the flaps so the push rods are internal.Got a pilot and painted him.Just need to fit it out, my plan is to have this ready for the end of March when the weather improves…..
I also want to fit a dummy arrester hook and landing lights.
After reading the article in the magazine I was also contemplating adding sound, but the price and weight may be an issue.

Project at the moment is to get my Sea Fury in the air.
I brought this over a year ago painted it and then got distracted with a 3m glider a couple of ducted fan planes and a 2m fibre glass glider.
Working on the tail wheel, the standard set up was just a bent bit of wire screwed to the underside … not scale like and sticking out in the wind.
What I have done is taken a plastic retract modified it and put it in the tail of the plane. Take a look at this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4K_bHDaQC5M
One servo operates the retract and the doors. The Wheel acts like a caster and is sprung to keep it central. -

Sitting playing with my new DSX9 and it occurred to me that the new generation of mobile phones use large screens. The screen protectors you get are almost the right size for the DSX9 screen. Just look for the i-phone or the like. And what do you know they stick really well and a lot clearer than the light weight plastic cover they are supplied with, that soon start pealing off.I got some 105mm by 75mm screen protectors from the Orange shop for a fiver, 6 in the packet. You just have to make sure the screen is really clean before you lay the protector on.

Dave can you helpThe DSX9 sets from HC say they are CE and ok for the European markets.McGregor say only fit if they have thier logo onBMFA - spent a hour looking can't find a clear statement apart from if it has CE accreditation it's ok.So if I buy from HC and the savings that brings if you don't get caught with inport tax and it has CE marking and certificate is it ok to use?Are McGregor just protecting their sole distribution rights?

One more thought....The thing glides so well you probably don't need flaps.Save weight don't bother fitting the flap servos along with no retracts and wheels and fit a 4s 5000mah pack. The air frame can take the weight and this will give an estimated 6 or 7 min flight.
