  1. I have a boomer . She is 18months old and has  a few battle scars to say the least. After a cart wheel ( forgot to change tx to different model servos were reversed ooops!) I decided rather than patch up to recover in black and red. I put on larger wheels ( our patch can get a bit long , Changed to tail dragger getting rid of the trike u/c as i got sick of the nose wheel bending. Finally completely over powered it with an mds 60 ( not problems with engine  picked up for a bargin in an auction) don't use all the power but nice to throttle away some times. tend to keep about 1/3 to 1/2 power though still finding feet. Slow learner!!! Since tail dragging not had any where near as many problems with u/c on landings . got an excel 2000 tainer and that is also converted to tail infact my whole fleet tail drag. Waco bipe, super chipmunk and the 2 trainers. Look flying the trainers as they have taught me so much along with my buddy lead ( Will save you a fortune) Good luck Gaz
  2. If your not fast your last and if you snooze you loose. So wakey wakey, I am in it to win it !
  3. Well if i win it at least I won't have to tell my wife I have BOUGHT a new plane and the fleet will be improved from the trainer line up.
  4. Why not just move the two wheels forward and convert to tail dragger . Or my local hobby shop sells the nose wheel , arm and bracket to fix to the fire wall the arm is easy enough but as the guys say fix it in place. I am still learning and constantly bend mine on landing hence i converted to tail dragger. Getting better now though.
  5. It is a kit build  from sportsman aviation. I have done searches on smc, tjd , ripmax,  but to no avail. Cheers guys Gaz
  6. Oh come on I'm missing one of these !!
  7. Hi there, I have recently aquired a Waco 60inch wing span designed for a 60 -75 engine. Very nice looking plane and  I am looking forward to getting it up in the blue ( ?) sky. However i have read and heard  that it tends to require a lot of nose weight ( over 200g fitted when I recieved it). So I looked into fitting a 91 engine . to remove the dead weight. My main  problem lies with the cowl. it is cylindrical in shape and has through the test of time and heavy landings sustained a bit of damage in cracks and chips. Now with the new larger engine fitted the cutting for the engine is not in the right place . So where can I buy a new cowl or how can I repair the current one  many thanks Gaz
  8. What a beaut. Would look great in the air flying over the patch. I would be be the one with the smile a mile long!
  9. Hi all, Just though I'd drop in . weathe picking up this weekend get out and fly. Fingers crossed for the flight and tm Gaz
  10. Hi Dave, RCMW Dec 2007 page 76 protech Air Combo
  11.  I have just got an air combo pack from protech as i wanted to try elc flight and heli at a great price. After reading the review in the mag this confirmed my decission.  However i have discovered. Flight from box means noting as the tx was faulty ( How could it have been flown ??) This led to problems. Eventually resolved now I have a problem setting up. I want it to go forward when the right stick is forward. At the moment it goes diagonal.???? Also want does the prop and gain feature do on the 3 in 1 controller. I have tried but need confirmation as i am battling in the dark without information as this is not covered in the directions. Aso the bottom blades the small screws which attach to the main shaft did not secure this has been rectified. Does any one know if i can up grade the swash to alloy from other brands or must it be protech?? trying to learn. Not being put off as want to get the sky lift but not til I have mastered this.
  12. Steve webb sells these for £130 great price just trying to convince my wife exactly what a good buy this would be.!!!
  13. Many thanks Timbo. You are a star. I look forward to getting it air borne. Your instruction even show the balsa fillet triangles, my instructions don't even mention them along with tips like taping the edges . Thanks again. Gaz
  14. Hi there I recently won a shock flyer (high end technology- rc Raven 3d flyer 700.) No I have not built one of these before and the destructions (no I meant to spell that) are vague to say the least . No expalination on servo connection of rods or where on fus how to mount the wheels u/c once the carbon rod is glued on the leg.   Secondly what motor , esc , reciever, lipo ,servos would you suggest . I am new to elec Just bought a protech air combo set so If i could use the charger that may keep cost down a little. I do fly i/c ( boomerang trainer on a 60 and an excel 2000 on  a 40 just in case one is magnetically drawn to the ground!!!)but have only been flying for less than 12 months. Cheers
  15. What a great change in weather we had (midlands) Flew to day although a little chilly. there is no such thing as cold weather, just inappropriate clothing!!!!! With a flask of water for a brew (cappuccinos ) we made quite a day of it. The wind even died down towards the end. Great to be air borne again.
  16. Managed to fly, but only indoors (First time) Now looking forward to getting ep heli and plane for next indoor event. How strange it was not to have large box of fuel etc and not to have to wipe down everything from oil. Still you can not beat the smell and sound of I/C
  17. I have a Boomerang with 40 engine and have had a great time trying to get airborne. I have found that by joining a club and getting freindly with a few members has helped I also bought a trainer lead. This has saved me from endless rebuild antics and inevitably saved me a fortune. You will need to fnd out what connection your buddy has though> lead cost about £ 15- 20 . Well worth it. The Boomeraqng is offered for sale for upto about £59 I have found it on www.moormodels.co.uk for £38. Radio gear i agree with everyone else buy the best you can afford as this will be the one piece that out lasts everything else!!!!! and you can always upgrade your model whilst using the same TX I have the futaba 6ex. Very happy . only thing is this bloody weather can anyone sort it out for us all. If the weather is a problem, go electric for indoor flying. I am considering this option for winter (very soon then at this rate).... Good luck and happy landings
