  2. Hi Martin,   I totally agree with your argumentation, namelly about the use of different cell counts; In this matter I think in the same way as you, with reservation    Regards,   Augusto
  3. Hi all,   very good stuff in here, I for myself use Sir Mick Reeves system : http://www.mickreevesmodels.co.uk/~mickreev/mickscha.htm ( see at Bateries)   it's easy, simple and works ... and Mick is a champion!   Cheers,   AugustoEdited By Augusto on 11/10/2010 11:38:22
  4. The half wing being dry:   the ailleron is cutted with an hand-saw:   and separated:   next they' ll be sanded.   Cheers,   Augusto
  5. Hi there, working on the first half wing and as planned yerstoday, upper spars and spar ailleron are placed:   webbing is made and LR in place too:   In Eric's version there is no webbing because the model was for FF, in my case, for R/C, I need to give more rigidity to the wing increasing its inertia in the plan of the front spars with webbing.   Best Regards,   Augusto
  6. I Fellows, first half wing being Build:   As I had cutted all those ribs in the begining, remember ? it´s a lot more easy and it goes fast:     and the dihedral is inserted:   Tomorrow I' ll go with the upper spars, the LE and with the ailleron.   Cheers,   Augusto Edited By Augusto on 08/10/2010 01:00:30
  7. Fin and rudder laminated outline and structure ready to assemble:       sanded and separated:   Regards,   Augusto
  8. Thank you very much Mike, the Luton is going on, working in the tail I finished it:   and sanded it in shape:   the two parts separated:   And an essay to see how it fits in the fuselage:   And now fin and rudder; template cuted and in place to laminate the outline:   and 3 strips of 1/16" laminated and drying:   Cheers,   AugustoEdited By Augusto on 06/10/2010 00:17:40
  9. Four days wiyhout computer to replace the disc owing to a serious faillure with total demage and change from WVista to W7; so only today I could go on with this thread   Once the fuselage structure is made it's time to go on with other works such as the tank bay:   and see how it matches in place:   Engine mount bearers in place too:   A trial on the balsa covering fuselage:   And, finally, tail feathers building:   That's all for today folks; coments are very welcome.   Cheers,   Augusto.
  10. Mine arrived in the post early in this morning. I agree with Martin about DIY decals and covering articles however, and in general, it's a very good value for money.   TN's Spit looks very good (as usually) .... and in 6 sheets! That's a record for a magazine, I  think.   Congrats David and to all RCM&E team      Edited By Augusto on 27/09/2010 17:50:11
  11. Weather was too good this weekend so, Saturday, went to fly and chat with club mates and today, Sunday, went for a walk with family and play with my grand-son.   After dinner went to the workshop to go on with the Luton fuselage.   So, formers and stringers are glued in place:       and cutted to lenght:     It's not to much done but we must let some work to do for the next days   Regards,   Augusto
  12. Thank you John, those 4 pages in the site you suggested me are great; my problem is that I like all of them and to choose one scheme amongst all of those beauties it's not too easy  but we'll see tatter.   The fuselage goes on; I' ve inserted the balsa sheet in the front of the sides:   It's in a great extension then in the plan but we'll need it for the R/C version.   The spacers were putted in place:   and the sides joined:   and glued:   and the fuselage basic structure is finished:   That's all for today folks.   Cheers,   Augusto
  13. Fuselage in the beginning; longerons in place with a bit of water and amonia to curve:     braces cutted and glued:   and the two sides ready to join with the spacers:   That's all for now.   Cheers,   Augusto
  14. Thank you Mike ... formers are made:        but the building only begin tomorrow   Cheers,   Augusto
  15. Hi Mike, great to hear from you. You're very right about the engine used by Eric in his model, the Albon Dart;  and it is shown in the plan.   I think that an OS15 it's too much for this model. I agree with you, for FF I would use my Mills .75 or my Cox .049 but as R/C I think that the Ennya .09 will be right.   Well, having cutted the ply templates:   and made the "sandwich":   All the ribs are ready now:   Tomorrow I'll go with the formers and I hope to begin with the fuselage.   Cheers,   Augusto
  16. Thank you for your kind words David, I'm not a fatalist but I'm very happy to build this bird.   For now I'm cutting the parts and making ply templates for the wing ribs sandwich method; pics latter
  17. Hi Folks,   We have a popular adage saying: "Let me know your memories and I'll tell you who you are"; put in other words: "Our memories are our identity"!   In fact, I believe in that.   One day, by my 16's, my mum - knowing my passion for the hobby, took me with her to the loft to show me my uncle's (his brother) wardrobe.   For my amazement There were a lot of designs, sketches, plans and a few colouring wing and fuses of rubber models.   Then dhe said to me: " if you wish you can use them for your builds; your uncle would be very proud".   To be frank at that time rubber models were not my subject; I was more FF. So all that stuff was left there for ages.   Suddenly, after reading Dave´s article about is beautiful plan in last Sep. RCM&E issue and the words by John Laird in the forum - Richard Wicker's thread, about the Luton Minor, my mum's words strongly knocked in my brain and I run to see if in that chest there was something about.   You can imagine my excitation and enthusiasm when I found and got in my hands Eric Fearnley's plan and the article wrote by himself in Dec. 1953 Aeromodeler issue (at that time I was a 6 years old little boy!):     Unfortunately the plan is totally corroded by sust and humidity and very dificult to read and use, so a new one was ordered from MyHobbystore:   In the end of EF article there is a list of material to build the model so, I copied it and send my order to SLEC. In 5 days I had all those goods with me:   While waiting for all this stuff, using EF's plan, a 3v and AutoCAD I draw the adaptations needed for a LA.4 variant. I printed all in self-adhesive paper from Staples that I'll use as templaplates for cutting ply and balsa parts:   In the frot she'll take an Ennya .09 IV that I bought 20 years ago and still is in its box!   And next Fellows, let's going to build it!   Cheers,   Augusto     Edited By Augusto on 17/09/2010 23:59:16 Edited By Augusto on 17/09/2010 23:59:44
  18. Well temperature slow down - 28ºC today,  I could finish the re-covering work and show to you all its parts assmbled:   How does it looks mates?   So, next tasks: replacing the old tank and snakes, run the engine to assure that everytjing goes well, put the servos and make the decals for final appearance.   Ah! and paint and put the pilot in its office   Cheers,   Augusto
