  1. Gary, great to read that another "e" version is being built. On my depron version the 2200 mAh 3s pack sits snug against the vertical former F2 which is 14mm in front of the wing's leading edge Are you building to plan i.e. fully built up out of balsa and ply with film covering and what motor and lipo are you planning? I ask because you may need to open up the F2 to allow your chosen pack to come forward if using a lighter motor than the I.C. version. Andy
  2. Finally had a nice sunny day for flying on Sunday although the 25 mph wind did push my 966 gram E version around a bit. Here's a short video shot with my #16 HD keycam both on board and from my hatcam. Andy Edited By Andy Horsman on 20/02/2013 23:07:31
  3. My electric version is flying fine at about 10mm forward of the plan c of g. Had a little issue the other day when she drifted into the rougher part of the field on my take off run. Didn't get very far as the prop found a clump of grass and promptly ripped the motor and ply mount of the fuse. My fault really for trying a 10 x 4 prop on her instead of the 9 x 6 used before. The beauty of making the plane yourself is the ease in which you can graft on a new front end. Added some ply doublers at each side and underneath so now much stronger. Will try for a flight or two tomorrow weather permitting.
  4. Don't forget that balsa and ply are not the only building materials. I've just finished and flown Alex Whittaker's Super Slinky but instead of a trad build I went for 6mm depron foam and a KFm-4 wing. I also powered with a brushless electric motor instead of an I.C powerplant. Have a look over on this thread http://www.modelflying.co.uk/forums/postings.asp?th=79259&p=1#1368224 for pictures (tab under my name) and videos. Andy Edited By Andy Horsman on 09/02/2013 16:04:32
  5. Had chance to fly her again on full power. Very pleased with her performace even though probably not as quick as some of those I.C. versions out there. Ended with a drama free simulated deadstick landing. She's a keeper. Photos can be viewed by clicking the photos tab and here's the video
  6. Thanks Tim motor stuttering traced to dodgy esc/wire and all fixed by replacing with Plush 10 amp unit. I now have full powerbut it's raining.
  7. Not sure where video has gone but let's try posting the link instead http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nz6WQBVVVnQ Motor specs etc listed with video Looks like there is a little lag before it loads in the blank space! Now, how do I attach photo's to posts? Andy Edited By Andy Horsman on 08/02/2013 18:54:33
  8. Here's my version - a depron electric version. Don't worry, this won't cause the esteemed Mr Whittaker to suffer a cardiac failure as I've already sent details of the build and video to Alex's blog page. He actually asked that I post here for all to see! Knowing how much Alex loves el*ctric power and how fond he is of foam models, I thought I'd make a depron and electric powered Super Slinky!!.I've called it the SlinkyE as that's all that I can fit in my DX8's model naming screen. Weight with 2200 mAh 3 cell li-po pack is 966 grams. The construction is mostly from 6mm depron foam with some surplus wooden blind slats used either side of the lower fuse to strengthen the area around the wing and u/c dowels. There is a nice thick piece of ply as a bearer for the u/c and a lite ply motor mount. The model is the same size as your original but I did use a KFm-4 wing instead of a built up affair. It has 2 x 6mm carbon flats behind the steps and an internal 6x6 mm alu spar. Oh, and it's got some 18mm balsa leading edge so there's some more wood. I did reduce the size of the rudder as it looked out of proportion compared with Alex's original build photos. I have use commercially sourced u/c but I had to revise my sprung steerable tail wheel as it was too high resulting in the model having only a slightly higher front than back. Changed to an unsprung tail wheel through the fitting and this reduced the height. Maiden flights completed earlier today and she is still in one piece! Had some issues with the power train in that the motor refused to take 100% power without squealing in protest. I suspect a esc timing issue. She fly's like a much bigger model in that she feels heavy in the air. Only a few clicks of up elevator required and 100% rates on aileron and elevator were fine. Tried her inverted and only a slight nudge of forward stick required so I reckon the c of g is bang on. No excessive climbing on power so motor angle spot on as well. I must be getting good at this building lark. I was very pleased with the ground handling as there was very little swing. The banded u/c did it's trick and rotated back on my last landing. She will fly incredibly slowly without a hint of tip stalling. I have a video which I’ve upload to Youtube. Thanks to Alex for a brilliantly designed model. I can't wait for some decent flying weather and full power once I've sorted the motor glitches. 9. Well, I'm considering building another one on the lines of a P-40 with camo paint etc. Just need some plans. These look promising @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);Edited By Tim Mackey - Administrator on 16/05/2011 18:08:05
  10. Thought I'd post the penultimate flight of my Intro-vert. Broke the back in the next flight, too disturbing to show just in case young children are watching! 11. Hi Mike looks like your Introvert flys really well. I've flown mine in 15-20 mph gusty conditions - quite exiting but for windy days you need to build Dekan's Simple Delta http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=867083 or my Swing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xyUDQjWOZ_w Andy
  12. Hi Mike sounds like your having a ball with your Introvert. Sounds like the "vert" part is particulary applicable for your model Why don't you try a Keyfob cam mounted on a baseball hat - see this huge thread on RC Groups http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1115052&page=133&pp=50#post16801313 There is a new HD version out now but the jury is out until some testing. Andy
  13. Tim you could always try extending the rudder by adding some depron or stiff clear plastic Andy
  14. Mine is strictly for outdoors. OK, if you had one of those domes that our American friends have available but I think that my club mate, John Stennard, might struggle in our local church hall. Mike my elevator servo has also failed but noticed prior to launch. It will need some surgery to extract but this will give me chance to replace the 35 MHz RX with one of the tiny HobbyKing Orange 4 ch jobbies. Head
