  1. Hi David I used lead flashing, cut into 6No 2" 1/2 x 1" 5/8 pieces bolted  onto longer rear engine mounting bolts. After they have formed shape over crank case epoxy them together. (Not to the crank case.) I also drilled 2 new holes thru at front of engine bearers. used stick on lead epoxyed together then bolted thru new holes Ref to engine problems none, acts as extra cooling to crank case. Ive put another picy in my gallory      may help you. Dave.
  2. Hi David Ive heard on the grapevine that spanyerds are flying nutters, that must be fun to wach, he he he. Yes im jealous (BLOODY WEATHER HERES CRAP, ITS SNOWING AT MOM) still thats to be expected here in uk. Dave
  3.  Yep wire cross braceings, Snap! im retired as well.  Ive been out flying about the same so far. My flying fields 5mins from where i live, an its water logged at moment  itle take about 2 wks to dry out.
  4. HI Russ The 4 wires are for the wing outer struts, they slip on the strut connection bolts. See picys in my gallary. The front shot of eng, thats just a reflction of the caban struts on the covering. no wires attached to the fus. Yes the top wings are held in place by the rigging wires. wish this crapy weather would get better im getting withdrawal simptoms.he he Dave.
  5. What i did was cut off 1 arm off a spair servo horn, then bolted and cynoed it to the ply rudder arm see picy in my gallary. Sry picy slightly out off focus.
  6. Russ   i used the ply rudder bar suplyed with the model, i changed the control cables for nylon covered ones have had no problems with them cutting into the covering so far. thats part 0 the fun solving some a the  design problems.
  7. Seems this may be a fault on all these tiger moths.
  8. Hi David On my rigging it was the brass threads to the clevices  that failed . Dave.
  9. Hi Russ  SRY Forgot about that problem, i replaced all of mine at start of assembly over a year ago. Dave.
  10. Yes did away cross wire braceing, ie undercariage to rigged, replaced it with a very small key ring as a center for wire spring cross braceing, covered in heat shrink  the right diameter for springs, dont heat the tubeing. see picy in my gallary. Dave.
  11. Hi Russ Yes you are right, i didnt mount my 120 as instruction say, the reason i didnt is because of the engine crank case gusset stiffners to top of lugs. To mount my engine as per instructions meant that i would ave had to cut slots in the engine  bearers to accomadate the crank case gussets, thus weakening the engine bearers, an i didnt want to do that, an yes my cowl is slightly downwards, nothing to drastic i can live with that. See side elevation picy in me gallary. Dave.
  12. Hi David Yes i dont know why thay Have stopped doing the red & silver tigys, because i think they are the better colours of the two. At a latter date why not get some brown solar film and cut out some camo shapes, heat tac in place over the green then heat shrink it on, if you get any small bubbles use a pin or sewing needle, just gently piece bubbles gently press air out and gently go over them with the iron. If your going to spray it yull need to give the covering a key ,  product like prymol. have a brows thru this web site it may help you. http://www.solarfilm.co.uk
  13. RIGGING Once youve had a trial assembly and are now going to diesemble leave rigging wires arrached to top wing center section, bottom wings, and the wing end struts, it makes it easyer rigging up at flying site.  Set yourself a system ie plug and bolt bottom wings on first, plug top wings on, make sure youve numbered your end struts No 1 to 4 start left hand side, bolt on No1 strut at front attach end cross wire, No2 strut at rear, attach cross wire, then attach top an bottom wing wires then do the same on  the right hand side. Now you can adjust or tennsion the wires dont over tennsion wires.tighten all rigging lock nuts. You will find it slow at first, the more you do it the quicker it gets. Hope this helps Dave.
  14. Also lf you are flying off grass, on taxying and  takeoffs  give her plenty of up elevator, as she will tend to nose over if you hit a divet. Dave.
  15. Hi Russ Yep glide is good, it flys scale 1/4 to 1/2 throttle full throtle for large loops,  barrel rolls, stall turns, ect.Give it plenty of hight for barrel rolls. On landing let her come in nice and level gently blip throtle on and off till touch down. Dave.
  16. Hi all up wieght of my tigy is 10lbs an thats with an os120 fs up front it needs a lot of lead up front. Dave.
  17. Hi David Are i understand now, i think indivjual pilots set up their transmiters  to how thay want their aircraft to fly.  ie 1 pilots preferance is not anothers ect. The jp tiger moth is quite an easy plane to fly, ive had no probs with mine, with the way its set up. Dave.
  18. by the way the sc 120fs will do fine.
  19. Hi David Differential ? or do you mean Exponential on ailrons. No the top wing has no ailerons counteracts any twichyness. I put minus -30% expo on the rudder because its large.  Also have small amount of rudder mixed with ailerons, makes it easier on take offs and landings in cross winds. Does your friends tiger moth have ailerons on top and bottom wings, if so he would do because the aircraft is more twichy. Dave
  20. Also modified the under carriage, removed wire gross brassing  ie its to rigged and fitted a wire spring cross braceing.  Covered in right diameter heat shrink tubeing but not heat shrunk so on landings its got a bit give.
  21. Hi David sry about pics thay were up there, you can find the picys in the gallary under (owner Dave Cooper my models.)   CG I  did my CG on under side of top wing center section i made it 61/2 inches or 165mm back from leading edge of center section. I transport my tigy in a ford ecort estate  fusalarge and the 4 seperate wings,  bottom wings i have glued in one half the plug in tube an steel rod the top wing tube an rod and outer wing  struts i assemble on site outer wing struts ive numbered 1 to 4 sos not to mix them up, l also leave the fixing nuts an bolts in the ends of struts, rigging it takes me about 20 mins from start to finish. ill put some new pics in me gallery tonight they may help you. get well soon m8 Dave
