  1. I have had excellent service from Horizon Hobbies . I stood on my sons beasts canopy . I ordered a new one from a model shop, but the fit was very poor. I contacted them with photos and with a bit of delay with email reply's, due to him contacting other people a new one was supplied. The replacement fitted very well.

  2. Had a slightly different problem with mine. When you throttled back it would hang on to the revs for about a minute then go down to idle. Also it was very hard to start when warm. Stripped down carb and cleaned .Was ok for a few weeks and problem came back. Got a new carb from Just engines problem solved. Its the WT644 that fits the DLE 20. Hope this may be of some help.

  3. Speaking from someone who has been on the committee ( don't know if I`m one of the grumpy old men you are talking about John?) You will find that when there is an AGM the only people who are prepared to stand are the hard and fast founder members of clubs who don't want things to change. When someone young wants to change things they find it very hard to do so as they are out voted. The older members are the back bone of most clubs also as they join year in year out, were as the younger ones join for one or two years and then move on. Also when club events are arranged you find that yet again its the older ones who turn up as the younger ones have other commitments, are hung over from the night before or the weather is too bad for them.

Lee who was one of our club trainers said a lot of his friends wanted to come and fly till they new the hours and expense that was needed to fly like him. Also he added that he knew after one or two flights who would stay and who would go . If they said on the first flight when will I be able to 3D this trainer ? he knew they would not last .

Then we have those people who most of use can't do with out. (wife's and girlfriends) They come into our live`s and take over, children come along and we know the rest. When they do come back to the hobby a lot of them are turning into grumpy old men themselves and so I goes on.

I don't really have an answer to your question ,may be its just the way things are changing. I also now want to fly for fun and go home .This is just my experience's and opinion's others may disagree.

  4. So you like the Frank Bowman ring then john? All 8 of mine bought off ebay and fitted with Frank Bowman rings. Only had a slight problem with the 170 biting a bit, a new carb sorted that problem out.. You have seen them run john if there fakes I'd buy another

  5. I agree with Ken.I have used Futaba all my life, and have seen other people using other brand with no problems,so is up to you. Have a look around and see what people are flying with and if you like it buy it. Most of the time people blame a brand when its their fingers that are at fault.

  6. Little update

Been flying mine a while now and I am very pleased with it. A lot of the lead in the nose has been removed and C of G is now at 130mm back from leading edge. The DLE55 has enough power to do all the things I want it to do.My son has managed to prop hang it,and do other crazy manovers with it. The only real complant is of the covering which is comming away under the plane near the engine bulkhead, other than that it still looks good. Has anyone had to match the covering yet and if so what did you get to match it? The nearest thing I can find is oracover pink but the computer dose not give exact matches as I have found in the past. Any help matching it would be great.smiley

  7. Only problem was when the dog pinched one off the table. He took it back to his bed.In a blink before I could get it off him it burst into flames through his bed rug and laminate flooring in less than a second. Where dose this go in the pole? Dog unharmed but I spent a few weeks in the dog house!!!

  8. I converted an ASP 120 to petrol 2 years ago with a just engines kit all was easy to do the problem that we had was the needles were too critical . I believe that walbro do a carb for small engines now. This should give you the pump you need and cure the critical needle setting. The engine did work well but DLE bourght out a 20cc engine and it was put on hold
