  1. HELP HELP HELP HELP. I need some serious help guys. I will be asking loads of questions soon, so please answer me or my Ripmax bf-109 and me will be left on the shelf. Today's work The power plant or motor, I kept calling it an engine until my father-in-law (jack) put me right Marking the points to secure the motor The Motor, I am using an AXI 2814/12 Brushless The motor in Position and screwed in. The ESC an E-PRO SP-50a-air the Poer Plant for the build The charger for the power plant, I think I went a bit excessive on this one. Now comes the trouble, the ESC comes with a power switch the leads to the motor and the leads to the battery. With the DX6i you have to use a bind plug to lock the signal but it is a female connector and where does it plug into, in the instructions it shows a lead coming of the ESC but mine does not have this. Also with the battery connected and the power turned on at the ESC I eventually got the T/x to show a solid orange light on the R/x and the Elevators and Rudder started to work as the Elevators are not connected. Jack was trying to wire up the motor but there was no power to any of the leads from the ESC he had a little electronic gadget that moves when a current is present, the T/x is a bit advanced for me and we ended the day completely disheartened. The servo lead from the ESC was in the Batt, connector on the R/x. Does anybody out there know what is going wrong? Also what I do with the bind plug for the R/xDo you think my choice of motor and battery will make it easier to hand launch and give it a good turn of speed?Look forward to hearing from you all and thank you for your comments Kelvin, I have been referring to your blog an awful lot.
  2. Hello, this morning I changed the satellite box and put it 90 degrees to the receiver. Kelvin, I hope your pictures on your build are not copyrighted because i borrowed the cockpit picture, I searched for ages on Google and could not find a decent picture, if it's a cheek let me know and I will remove it.  And I know that it is not politically correct but on viewing BF-109 emblems on Google I had to add the item below, do you think this is wrong, it is actually very difficult to find this emblem on Google as well. I downloaded both pictues onto high quality photo paper and printed them out cut them and then stuck it on, works a treat.
  3. I have stuck it with servo tape, thanks for the tip Timbo I will change it tomorrow, does it matter that i have stuck it to the side or should they go somewhere else? Thank you for tjhat Eric I will call him on Monday and get a smaller one
  4. Here I am again. Right I have finished for the night, and I am just going to share with you the final bit of building done today. The Rudder and the Elevator horns are now in place and secured and attached to the servos, this was a little bit fiddly but not to bad. And finally the Receiver and the other little black box ( I do not have a clue what it is is in position and the Rudder and Elevator servoo leads are attached. Now the build will come to a complete standstill until my Father-In-Law comes round (HINT HINT fancy a cup of tea). he has the electric wizardry to do the technical bitThe receiver is from my new transmitter which is a SpectrumDX6i.While I was writing this I have just phoned my inlaws and invited them round for dinner tomorrow, (I had better go and tell my wife!!!!)Hopefully more tomorrow then.
  5. I have attached the Rudder to the tail. It has been a busy day today. I have inserted the pushrods for the Elevator and Rudder and attached them to the servos The pushrods are now in position to be attached to the Elevator and Rudder. This will be my next job, it is now time to have a sit down and a beer!
  6. Hello, back to the build. I purchased apilot today for a bit of fun, but alas, he is too big!!!! Back to the drawing board with this one.the rear wing and fitting to the body, I think this is going to be more luck than judgement This bit was the easiest regarding the rear wing, now comes the guesswork Gives me a bit of time to make it as straight as possible at least 2 hours working time, wish I had this for the tail plane when I attached it! Looks a bit of a mess with all the masking tape, but not being an engineer I am just hoping it will be straight, please god help me with this one!!!!Well I have got to let it dry now for a couple of hours, if anybody is thinking about purchasing one of these models it is lovely but I would call it a NARTF, "Not Almost Ready To Fly"
  7. Cheers Guys, I think I may be a little bit of a perfectionist and i keep looking at, I am going to Soldier on tonight and fingers crossed it will be all right. More Later, have actually got to go to work today although I know I will be going to get some 30 min Epoxy!
  8. Kelvin, I do not see how it could have gone wrong because it is such a tight fit it seemed impossible that it could have been fitted any differently, I will be alot more thorough when I fit the elevators, perhaps 5 min Epoxy was a tad too quick but to be honest I didn't pay enough attention, Regards Steve
  9. I have just looked at my Parkzone Spitfire and my Parkzone Trojan and both of these also seem to have the tail plane slanting slightly to the right as well, is it me or is it wrong what is the easiest way to make sure??????????
  10. Houston, I have a problem, I can't see myself getting out of this one, PLEASE HELP!!!!! I was looking over the build so far and the tail is sitting slightly to the right, I have taken some pictures below, is this going to be a major problem and is there any way I can sort it out. I used 5 min Epoxy I have cut the lawn now at least I have done something right today, the fitting on the tail is so tight i do not see how it could possibly go wrong
  11. I know my workshop looks a little bit strange but i am taking advantage of the warm weather and using the patio table, i have been in trouble though because i have dropped 5 Min Epoxy on the table and it has dried!!!!! Will I survive my Wifes comments.
  12. I have now started on the elevators and while that is drying I moved onto the servo fittings for the rudder and elevators I am skipping a few items in the instruction manual to get a bit more done, I am really getting into this now. Elevator hinges are glued and ready for the elevator Hopefully this elevator will come out straight, if it doesn't, there could be trouble ahead!!! servos are ready to go in the body, these are Ripmax SD200 ini Servos Servos in position and attached Stay tuned for the next installment, still havn't mowed the lawn yet
  13. Thank you David i was starting to worry, I did forget this picture so here it is, I had better go and get the lawn mower out now!!!!!!
  14. Well here i am again. I have taken a day off work today to do a bit more to my project, oh, and mow the lawn. This is alittle bit harder than i thought it would be and i have made aminor error with the cutting but not one I couldn't fix. Kelvin if you are reading could you tell me have i messed up the body because i am getting ripples everywhere, could you look at the fourth picture and advise, I would appreciate your comments. Kelvin, Is there anything I can do about this or did it happen to your plane?
  15. Kelvin, your help is going to be very important to me over the next few weeks during my build, I am worried that the ailerons will not have enough travel and can the servos be fitted the wrong way etc. I have finished the wings tonight, I take it once they have power you set them up properly at this point. the more work I do on this project the more worried I become about flying it and something going wrong.
  16. I know this may have no relevance but i work in the Motor Trade and this servo tape if the same stuff as we used to use to stick on Number plates to cars, the only problem is on hot days the number plates used to fall off and get broken and lost, this usually happened during hot days or very cold days, the tape did not work very well under these conditions, i did buy some but when i realised it was the snme stuff i didn't want to use it. Do you think i am going to have a problem with them being stuck on.
  17. It might be a bit late now, I am not worried about re using the servo'sbut i wish i had put masking tape around the servo first, do you think i will have a major problem with the servos coming loose while flying, it seems like pretty solid stuff and i clamped it while drying. You have me worried about this now.
  18. I was told by my local model shop to use a glue called ZAP-A-GAP. Its eems to work rally well, i also asked them about using servo tape but told me that it was not the best way of attaching servo's. They did say that if i glue them it would be difficult to reuse the servo's.
  19. Well I have started, I am a complete Novice at this so bear with me. Tonight I started on the wings and fixed both servo's onto the wings and using extension leads with the connection locks (thanks for that Kelvin I fed them all through onto the top of the wing. I had to modify the servo fixing hatch to fit the servos in I used Ripmax SD200 Mini Servo's and stuck them in place after roughing the wood of the hatch and the servo to get a better grip. I then fixed the Airelons in place, i would reccomend that you do this very carefully as i almost got caught out here and it becomes a bit tricky, in the las picture they are not fixed so do not think I have left a gap. I didn't get too much done tonight as i went out with my Trojan for an hour as it is such a good night. More tomorrow
  20. i have the servo extensions for the airelons and a y splitter to send to the servo, what are the safety locks, i have servo tape and i have a velcro strap that came out of my recenty demolished spitfire, the Lipo is massive and i am just going online now to find a suitable figure to fly it.
  21. Right, let me start again, here are the images in the correct format and the building will start tomorrow night as i have already hit a snag i need servo tape, Cyano glu, and servo lead extentions. You can tell that i am new to all this!!!!!
  22. I think i have sussed it know, thank you again
  23. Can someone just explain, I put the pictures into Photobucket and reduced them then copied and pasted them into the forum, what level should i reduce them down to 1. to get accepted by the uploader on model flying and 2. so they can be opened up.
