  1. Got the spray mix right now, 2 parts paint to .5 parts cellulose thinners. Sorted, pics when I've finished the roundals.
  2. Thanks for the info Tim, I'm doing a 2 part paint to 1 part thinner mix. I can try 2 part paint to .5 thinner today for the blue circle. The needle adjustment I do about half way but it's hardly precise. I'll continue for now until it's done hopefully. Cheers.
  3. Tried matt yellow and celly thinners, better result but got a few runs. I'll go again tomorrow with the next colour of matt and enamel thinners and see how we get on. I think the less thinners the better cover, two parts paint one part thinner. Well see. I'll post a few pics tomorrow.
  4. Oh ok, sorry Tony I must have misread it. I'd personally say it was the cold for sure as I said before I notice a big drop after two flights and have also lost a plane in similar circumstances. Hope it works out for ya.
  5. My packs are 6v 2000mah eneloops and I swear by them, there great. However the cold weather does run them down a whole lot faster, on a warm day I could get up to eight flights plus before considering to change them after a battery check. On a cold day, I go about 2 flights max and you really can see the difference, at this point I change out. There's no doubt at all the cold will run your battery down quicker, to totally drain it in one flight though, I'm a bit miffed like everyone else. Good luck.
  6. Cheers Stu, Ill try it in a minit when ive masked everything off. Havent really got time for the test as im pushed for time at the minit, im confident though.   Heres a few more additions of paint masks.   The port side has came out well, however the coat is very thin and I may go over this with some matt white later.   As you can see the starboard side, not so well.   A bit of leaking on the stiffener, on the H.   And again on the T, this will be tidied up after all the stenciling/ masking has been completed, no great worries here really, apart from when it comes to doing the roundal, wont be happy if that fails.   I was doubting if this was scale but by the looks of it, its not far off, they were going to be close on the top or bottom. If they were close on the bottom you wouldent see them as well from the side.   Thats enough for now, ive got work to do.   Cheers,   Craig.
  7. Thanks for the info there stu I'll give it a go tonight and see what happens. I now have matt colours so this should help things a bit. What mix should I do with celly thinners to enamel humbrol paint?, does it not crack or go like porridge or something "crazing". Cheers, Craig.
  8. Hi Tim, Sorry for the late reply. I'm having the same problem with the White, I thought it was matt but guess what, it gloss lol. I'm gonna go one/ possible two more coats and then I'm knocking it on the head for the night. I was going to try out cellulose thinners but got told by my LMS that it doesn't actually thin the paint and makes it go bad. Apparently it's only good for washes. Well see. Cheers, Craig.
  9. As said by kc, drilling and tapping wood gives a good hold. There's more strength there than people give credit for. My engine has been secured into the firewall of one of my planes for some time now and has never come loose or even begun to wobble. Although I do understand your doubts and those inserts sound great, I'd go for them and use epoxy as said previously. Hope you figure it out, Craig.
  10. Cheers Danny, appreciate the kind words. Hi Tim, Thanks for the help, I'm useing humbrol enamels with enamel thinners. The black I used was a gloss so I'm guessing this may have played a role into difficulties, most other colours I have are mat/ satin. I'll try acrylics next time but will use my existing stock first. The paint masks are 1st class Tim, can't wait to get the rest on. Cheers, Craig.
  11. Hi BEB and pete, Sorry for late reply, I'm not sure about the pic size as comps off now, I'm on iPod. But I always take pics on this and transfer and never had a prob yet, I'll check size when comp reboots in about 1 to 2hrs ha, ha. Thanks for the help lads.
  12. Hi all   Well couldent download all my pics but heres a few. The paint masks worked quite well but the paint mix through the airbrush was rubbish, really thin almost like cloudy thinners, so the runs were bad. Took quite a few coats just to get these.   Please pay no attention to the fin flahes as they are being sanded away and redone later. Have a mask for them as well.   Did a slight bit of weathering work and it will need cleaning up and blending in, I still have gun burns to put in, panel washes and few bits of dry brushing to do as well. I must say that the people who do panel line washes so well must be so skilled as it is very hard to get right, God knows I tried lol.   The guns are fixed in place now and had to have slithers of wood pushed in for alignment. My plan is to fashion the lower guns later, once both sets are done I intend to dry brush them with a little goldy/ brown colour and maybe a little chrome.   When it comes to the stains/ burns that the guns leave that will be done with a little brown as well.   I intend to get the other photos on here later, but well see!.   Cheers all.
  13. Hi Pete,   Ive managed to get four on but cant get another 3 on, even when I do them individually it comes up with the same message?, baffled. I can only think it may be a bug or something or the website is slow.   Cheers for the help.   Craig.
