Took the plunge and made my own motor mount today. I'm more than happy with it
Went to Wilkinsons and bought a compass for £1 and used that against the plan to get correct size then marked that on to 3mm ply. I used my saw to get as close to the line as I could and then used sandpaper on it while slightly turning it.

Baz - pm me your address and I'll make you one (not CNC)
Cheers for the offer Masher, Think I will try and do one myself. I'll get in the cupboards later and see if any of our glasses are the right size and if not I'll nip to shop and get a compass.
Thanks for the replys.

As title, can anyone make me a circular motor mount approx 47mm across? In 3mm ply with just a centre hole of about 6mm then I could drill holes for actual motor. This is needed for my current winter project of a Nigel Hawes Fizza.

Good to know the canopy is still available but which vac form company....Vortex?
Andrew
Yes Andrew I got their email address via vortex vac form website and they replied within 1 day with PayPal payment email as this is different.

Got a decent amount done today. Cut out fuz sides, fuz doublers, f1, tailplane and fin.
I glued the fuz doublers in and then glued the two sides to f1 and pinched the tail together all nice and straight.
Quick mockup picture.
Some of your might have noticed a few changes to plan. I've done the tailplane in one piece and chopped the bottom off the rudder. Firstly just for ease and secondly I'm still not decided if I'll have a working rudder, probably not. Also you might see a small square marked on fuz side, this is where the elevator servo is going give or take depending on CG. It then will have a carbon pushrod direct to horn.

Is the canopy still available?
Andrew
I'm waiting for an email back but when I was after a canopy for the Hawes Candoo that wasn't listed on their website it was available and arrived within a week

Just trying to order the canopy from vortex vacforms and also trying to source a cnc cut motor mount rather than having to make one, It's about 47mm but struggling to find a supplier. Anyone know where I can get one?

It might be the camera angle but there looks to be a lot of sweepback on those wings.....
The above two pics are of my Pushycats wing just to show how I intend to install servos. I don't like to use rods drilled into ailerons. Might look at putting two servos in fuz side with head sticking out and a carbon rod direct to ailerons but then horn probably won't be far enough along.
Here's my Fizza wing all glued together

I'm making it to fly on 3s 2200mah lipos as have a few models that already use these and have plenty of batteries.
The servos will be installed in the actual wing the same way I did with 2 Pushycats. Cut a hole just big enough to glue servo in then put a very thin piece of balsa on the top surface and sand down to the thinnest you can get it. (Might even just glue card over this time)

Well this year I've decided to build a Fizza, after enjoying doing 2 Pushycats and a Candoo over the last couple of winters.
Plan is another old one as it was first released in May 2005. So today I bought the wood which came in at less than £20 and once back home the wing parts were cut out within the half hour
Decided to run the spruce wing joint the full length for ease plus I'll be using a servo in each wing for the ailerons. Next is to glue it all together

I've installed FrSky hack modules into both my Futaba FF7 and FF9 Super. I've done this switchable so both TX's do 35mhz and 2.4g. The FF7 was the easiest to do as their are wires that you just solder on to where as the FF9 I had to solder on to a main board

My oldest son is 4 in January and Im thinking of getting him his first rc car so I thought I would ask here to see if anyone would recommend a decent one.
I had tried some a couple of years ago but they were terrible to steer correctly and the signal was poor but now with most things been 2.4g i'm guessing this will be much better. Looking at under £50 to start with so he can get used to it as I already own an ic car that he can progress on to.
Thanks in advance Barry

If your running the standard setup then yes the wing joint will be fine, theirs 3 of my club members flown these with no problems. I put an extreme motor in mine so installed two carbon rods running from one wing to the other on the underside Very easy job.

Have you put the servos in the wings this time Ken? Any big changes?

Well Pushycat MK2 fly's I flew two 8 minute flights at about 7pm tonight.
It went straight away from launching with just a few clicks of down trim. Flew really well considering the wind was at a constant 9mph with gusts reaching 13mph. I'll know more over the next few flights hopefully in calmer conditions.

Had two 10 minute flights with my old nexus helicopter this evening and I done my first ever loop followed by another 3. Looking to go back to the strip in the morning as its going to be really nice so will get a couple of hours in before work.

I'd like to see this engine "working" as is claimed without a carburettor. Note the description and the price.

Same seller has an OS Max fp for sale at £24.50 in as good a condition looks to sell all sorts of junk. But don't forget he "ships worldwide"

Graham wood 3 - The battery is 1800 mah 5 cell NIMH. After 2 hours use the charger will put in about 1000 ma so it's probably discharged by less than 2/3rds.
Thar seems a lot for only 2hours use. I thought most transmitters were using 200 MaH.
My futaba FF9 has an 8 cell 9.6v, 2500 mah NiMh in it. I reset the counter after every charge and then charge it after 5 hours use which generally puts back in around 1000 mah so I still have some in reserve if needs be.

Just looked on the Vulcan to the sky website and it is displaying at Blackpool the same day and is on their schedule for 14:33 so I'm guessing it will at least be in the later afternoon ish.

Any idea what time the Vulcan is scheduled to display? Just i'm going to have to bring my 1 & 3 year olds so don't want to be their too early as they will probably have had enough after 2 hours. So would rather be their the time it displays.

Managed to finally maiden my new to me trex 450seV2. Been waiting over a week as it's been so windy. I was at Blyths field for 9am and the wind was between 8-10mph which is a little on the strong side for a little heli but I wanted to do some final setting up so went for it. Put 4 lipos through it all about 6 minute flights. Managed to get all the adjustments done and flew some small figure of 8 circuits on the last lipo but it was too windy to really enjoy it. Hopefully get some nice windless evening flights in before the end of summer:
