  1. Well I took the plunge and made my own motor mount today. I'm more than happy with it yes

Went to Wilkinsons and bought a compass for £1 and used that against the plan to get the correct size then marked that on to the 3mm ply. I used my saw to get as close to the line as I could and then used sandpaper on it while slightly turning it.

Baz - pm me your address and I'll make you one (not CNC)

Cheers for the offer Masher, Think I will try and do one myself. I'll get in the cupboards later and see if any of our glasses are the right size yes and if not I'll nip to shop and get a compass.

    Thanks for the replys.

  4. Got a decent amount done today. Cut out fuz sides, fuz doublers, f1, tailplane and fin.

    3

I glued the fuz doublers in and then glued the two sides to f1 and pinched the tail together all nice and straight.

Some of your might have noticed a few changes to plan. I've done the tailplane in one piece and chopped the bottom off the rudder. Firstly just for ease and secondly I'm still not decided if I'll have a working rudder, probably not. Also you might see a small square marked on fuz side, this is where the elevator servo is going give or take depending on CG. It then will have a carbon pushrod direct to horn.

It might be the camera angle but there looks to be a lot of sweepback on those wings.....disgust

The above two pics are of my Pushycats wing just to show how I intend to install servos. I don't like to use rods drilled into ailerons. Might look at putting two servos in fuz side with head sticking out and a carbon rod direct to ailerons but then horn probably won't be far enough along.

Here's my Fizza wing all glued together yes

  6. I'm making it to fly on 3s 2200mah lipos as have a few models that already use these and have plenty of batteries.

The servos will be installed in the actual wing the same way I did with 2 Pushycats. Cut a hole just big enough to glue servo in then put a very thin piece of balsa on the top surface and sand down to the thinnest you can get it. (Might even just glue card over this time)

  7. Well this year I've decided to build a Fizza, after enjoying doing 2  Pushycats and a Candoo over the last couple of winters.

Plan is another old one as it was first released in May 2005. So today I bought the wood which came in at less than £20 and once back home the wing parts were cut out within the half hour yes

Decided to run the spruce wing joint the full length for ease plus I'll be using a servo in each wing for the ailerons. Next is to glue it all together

  8. My oldest son is 4 in January and Im thinking of getting him his first rc car so I thought I would ask here to see if anyone would recommend a decent one.

I had tried some a couple of years ago but they were terrible to steer correctly and the signal was poor but now with most things been 2.4g i'm guessing this will be much better. Looking at under £50 to start with so he can get used to it as I already own an ic car that he can progress on to.

    Thanks in advance Barry

  9. If your running the standard setup then yes the wing joint will be fine, theirs 3 of my club members flown these with no problems. I put an extreme motor in mine so installed two carbon rods running from one wing to the other on the underside yes Very easy job.

I'd like to see this engine "working" as is claimed without a carburettor. Note the description and the price.

Same seller has an OS Max fp for sale at £24.50 in as good a condition surprise looks to sell all sorts of junk. But don't forget he "ships worldwide"

  11. Graham wood 3 - The battery is 1800 mah 5 cell NIMH. After 2 hours use the charger will put in about 1000 ma so it's probably discharged by less than 2/3rds.

Thar seems a lot for only 2hours use. I thought most transmitters were using 200 MaH.

My futaba FF9 has an 8 cell 9.6v, 2500 mah NiMh in it. I reset the counter after every charge and then charge it after 5 hours use which generally puts back in around 1000 mah so I still have some in reserve if needs be.

  12. Managed to finally maiden my new to me trex 450seV2. Been waiting over a week as it's been so windy. I was at Blyths field for 9am and the wind was between 8-10mph which is a little on the strong side for a little heli but I wanted to do some final setting up so went for it. Put 4 lipos through it all about 6 minute flights. Managed to get all the adjustments done and flew some small figure of 8 circuits on the last lipo but it was too windy to really enjoy it. Hopefully get some nice windless evening flights in before the end of summer:
