Tim Mackey
Problem is.. the currents involved are high. ESCs are relatively cheap these days and will also power your radio, so why wouldnt you Decent large prop ( 11" folder or so ) with a nice low kv outrunner, and 3s Lipo.I should think around 250 -300 watts / 30A should do you. This type of thing maybe? Or maybe this budget motor with slightly larger prop. Nice big folding props are best on gliders Edited By Timbo - Administrator on 31/01/2010 15:26:
birdy
HI Ian, What timbo suggests is a good idea - BRC is a good place to buy from, are very helpful and have data sheets with them sugesting different props. Yes, do get an ESC, especially since 1. if you did have a switch then you'd need an old fashioned brushed motor and 2. I have never seem a "electronic" switch big enough to handle 30A, and at any rate, the ESC would end up cheaper.
