Phil May
I have just changed the monitor on my PC and now have a redundant 12VDC 3A output mains adapter. Is this adapter ok to use as a 12 V supply in my workshop to power my field chargers on the bench? I have no idea what the small 'cotton reel' is approx 6" from the plug, it is approx 1/2" dia x 1" long. The fact it powered my monitor points to me it is a 'stable' output, or am I well off course with this. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks chaps
Bert
Phil Yes that will be fine - I use one like it to power my charger for my small Lipos. Don't worry about the 'cotton reel' thing - it's just for EMC - it won't affect anything. Bert
Phil May
Many thanks Bert, I gather then that 3 A is enough. (what is an EMC)Edited By Big Phil on 05/02/2010 08:38:
Tim Mackey
Electro Magnetic Compatibility.....or more simply Interference. The "choke" or ferrite collar on your mains lead is there to help reduce /eliminate EMI electro magnetic interference. 3a is enough, if you dont want to charge at more than 3A
Phil May
Thanks Timbo, the biggest I'll be charging is a 2200ma NiHm which if I'm right is ok to charge at 2.2 amps-If I'm right??
