Steve Hargreaves - Moderator
As the new season approaches it is time to check over the fleet & rouse trhem from under their duvet!!!! Although I always try & charge my radio batteries once a month (rather than just letting them sit there) I always like to give them a good cycling to check they are in good nick for the coming season..... My questions to the panel are these..... What parameters should I use for the charge/discharge settings as a proportion of the C rating? What voltage should I discharge the cells to? 1V, 1.1V?? What shortfall in rated capacity is acceptable? ie if the battery cycles OK but only achieves 90% of its rating is it still OK or should it go in the bin?? Ambient temperature obviously makes a big difference to the capacity of any battery.....given that I keep my models in a cold garage this will obviously affect the capacity. Would it be better to bring the model into the house for cycling the batteries? That way the battery would be around 20Centigrade or so....
