Dennis Ainsworth
Hi all, I have to stick a servo to a carbon fibre plate, anybody got any suggestions as to the best adhesive to use.
Mouldy
epoxy will do it. need to make sure any release agent is removed from the carbon.
Tim Mackey
I also suggest you roughen the surfaces slightly to get a good key. Why not consider wrapping the servo first in masking tape.....that way you can get it out again if necessary for re-use.An alternative glue is one of my favs..... Dennis Ainsworth
Thanks Mouldy, wondered if that was the one but I have never used c/b before, any idea who sells the rigid sheet 1mm thick, I have to replace the one in the kit, required size is about 25mm sq. Dennis Ainsworth
Thanks Timbo, good idea about the tape but from what I can gather the adhesive strength with the tape wont be strong enough. What its for is the tail servo on an Ikerus Viper 70 and there is quite a lot of torque on it. The servo I used is quite small and I used a very small one for the tail and about a couple of hours ago I fitted it all up and it promptly burnt it out, so I have to revert to the same servo type used for the swashplate, Ripmax SD200, these are quite strong but much bigger so I have to make a bigger c/b plate than the one supplied and the only way of mounting the servo as they suggest is glue it to the plate and then cover it with heat shrink tube. Would like to put it on a propper mounting but you do have to keep the axis of the servo fairly close to the axis of the the tail boom. Tim Mackey
I see Anyway, this place does supply a smallish sheet of 1mm for around 7 /8 quid.

Dennis Ainsworth
www.carbonmods.co.ukEmailed them last night and asked if they could drop it in instead of posting, replied saying no problem and even refunded the postage, the other firm is bigger and good but you do have to try and support local tradesman if possible.
