setting up an f5j model

Can anyone help?

I have a 7 channel JR x378 transmitter, and am using a 7 channel JR receiver. The model is a highlight extreme converted with brushless motor. I am using all the inputs in the receiver as follows

Motor (linked to battery) attached to the Throttle channel

All other control surfaces are working apart from the left flap (its a 4 servo wing), this servo is currently plugged into the battery input on the reciever (its the only input left) and it won't work or mix to any of the other channels. Am I being daft?

I think the solution is to buy an 8 channel receiver so that I have enough inputs and the battery input can be left redundant, Am I correct?

Any help really appreciated

Thank you
