hi all,

i'm back again and with another model on it's way to me from the great 'hobbyking' this one has been shipped yesterday from the warehouse in UK,so it may be with me sometime late this week,i will build the plane,do a review/video and then maiden it,the weather is looking good this weekend so i may get it done faster than expected.i also ordered a few spares like props and another 3cell pack (turnigy nanotech) mainly cause i like them and they do provide some power,i also have 5 of my own 3cell optipower packs also to hand for it,so 6 battery packs should be more than enough the day of the maiden to test this out.i'm really looking forward to this one,PLEASE post your comments, opinions or experiences with this plane so we can have a chat and it might give me some insight to the model before i get it,i already have done some research on this and watched some videos, some say they can be tail heavy and add weights to the front,i am just going to maiden it and see for myself.

the spec of the plane is just sweet with reliable looking retracts and flaps, not to mention a very nice looking model at a great price.the planes get some good reviews online, what is your opinion?
want to mention also i have ordered a turnigy 9c radio/reciever set for 43euros,it looks damn great this radio and it's the updated version with a lot of the latest settings including low battery warning and expo/dual rate and all the other setting other major radios has to offer,i am not expecting too much from this radio but i just can't complain with the price,so i'm willing to try it anyway for the hell of it,

DX8 will be my next purchase this year soon,i will then just pop spectrum recievers in all my planes or buy the versions with the rx installed.

anyway,in the mean time before i post my pics here are some you may have seen already of the model online.

i will follow up on this thread soon with my own build/unboxing pics and the all important maiden flight.
regards
dan

my plane was shipped today

also my radio will be sent in the next few days from china,i think it is just awesome for what it is and the price,8channels what more do i want,it has all the specs of much more expensive radios like the dx8,for 43euros where could i go wrong.
don't matter weather it's good or bad,i'm willing to take a chance and test it anyway for this price.

it sure looks great,in this hobby it does not involve having to spend huge money all the time.

so lads any comments on this???9ch turnigy.jpg

ok so finally, the plane came today and i was super excited to see inside the box, what i saw was nothing short of amazing quality,in fairness i thought parkzone EPO or Z foam was tough, well the foam on this is as tough,i can't see any thing to fault about the quality and finish,it is nicely decalled and the paint is very nice and as i say well finished, the foam feels super tough,i'm actually taken aback with this so far because i really wasn't expecting this level of quality.it is great.

anoyingly enough my radio didn't come so i'm passing my evening trying to set up that other thing i discussed on the other thread,it is holding me up and the build, either way the build will commence now this evening.

here are some unboxing pics and what i got with this kit.

box was very nicely packaged with no chance of anything to get damaged in transit,it was nicely laid in and secured with strong tape in to it's styrofoam box.wasn't long before i had it opened and laying all the parts out to see what we were dealing with.

i ordered one battery pack just in case the ESC connector was an oddball one i didn't have, sure as it was....and this is one thing that anoyed me,you couldn't tell what sort of connector it needed,it was a yellow type one it came with that i to be honest wasn't familiar with,so i quickly got soldering on a few new ES3 ones to accept my own packs and stuck one on the new lipo i got also.so now we are power ready.

i ordered two spare props with it,i love the look of them, they should perform nice, they look very scale like i think.

all the flight responsibilities lay on this mans shoulders,he is responsible for a sucessfull maiden flight,he needs to make sure the plane is up to scratch and air worthy,it is his responsibility to bring this plane back in one piece,i hope he is up to the job,as i say if anything goes wrong i can blame jim barber!!

few shots of it lining up for take off before the maiden flight!

delighted to say i got the maiden flight out of the way,it went superb, lovely plane to fly no issues what so ever, only thing was it was windy and i didn't use flaps today nor retracts cause i used a 4ch radio until my new one arrives,so i basicly let the retracts in the open position for the take off's.

it is very impressive,so stable in flight and actually very fast!! that 4leg prop i could listen to it all day, very torquey.

few things i would like to mention, the take off roll out needs to be short and sweet, and i partially guessed this, once the rear end comes up it's time to lift off quick,so rather than gathering up too much momenteum on the take off roll out i lifted it off sharply to avoid damaging a prop, unfortunately we had to sarcrifice one prop on the first take off with this very thing happening,i knew it was going to be tricky as the tail lifts up very easy with the torque.

second thing is after inspection of the prop (i was taxing not so fast) it looks fairly brittle plastic to be honest, but they should be fine if you could avoid any incidents like this,i also look at the retracts area and see the same sort of plastic used with not much flex, but to be hoenst this plane with the flaps should come in like a feather on the runway so i would assume they are more than man enough for the job,no hard landings and all should be well.

the landings went smooth for me today thankfully with no flaps,i came in against the wind, the winds were supposedly 20kmh + today and yeah it was too windy but never the less it handeled the wind nice,it did upset the take off's a little taking the plane to one side on lift off,but it was managable.

nothing else to point out only everything else went smooth, second flight i fitted a new prop and i was aware of my take off procedure,it all went sweet from then on,

VERY nice plane to fly,it feels great and stable with it's large wing area, the plane can slow down to an amazing slow speed,i couldn't believe it,maybe on the video you can see it at one stage.

great plane, would reccomend it big time.
big thanks goes to nicola for the nice footage as always.
