Avery Haka
I'm new to quadcopter flying, and I fell in love with it. I am now searching for a starter kit. I've found a couple, but I'm particularly thinking of this: http://www.creativeflyers.co.uk/QAV250-Kit Any thoughts?
Ed Phelan
Hi Avery, I'm also fairly new to quadcopters and got myself a Husban X4 (http://www.red5.co.uk/the-hubsan-x4-quadcopter.aspx) which I think is really good for starters like myself and roughly £200 cheaper than buying a self build kit, so this could definitely be option for you. I've had a look and Build Your Own Drone & Quadcopters have a lot of equipment and kits which could be good for you to check out, however, some of the kits do look expensive especially the DJI's. From the research that I've done £240 appears to be a good price for a quadcopter self build kit so if you definitely want to self build then the DYS is well suited to your needs. Dave Bran
Can't comment directly, but can relate....... I bought an item from Giant Cod which was dangerously defective. Had a LiPo been attached it would have been shorted out. It was a simple item and really I felt it was quite difficult to be as badly screwed up as it was. I returned it to their stated independant checker. His return EMailed comment was "this item is so badly made it could have been made by DYS" He then indicated that at the time their servos were more "metal sprayed" than soldered, something I later saw on friends purchases after they failed. That was a while ago, they might have improved......................from what I saw that should not have been difficult! SO, I suggest its something you need to see and handle before committing to, its a lot of money to be wrong.
Dave Bran
+ 1 on the Hubsan X4 (107) BTW, I have three used in a school club which have stood huge abuse, and I have the excellent 107C with HD camera. Not exactly waht you were looking at, but a great low cost starter.
