Classicpattern -Johanna
We’ve been closely involved with competitive flying models for several decades. Through these associations, we’ve established solid connections to many past and present model airplane aerobatic champions. We’ve taken on the challenge once again, offering these previous winning designs to today’s model airplane enthusiasts, either as an ARF (Almost Ready to Fly) package or as a “build it yourself” kit. In view of today’s environmental situation, we are employing today’s standardized construction methods, and designed these models to use either quiet electric power or 2- or 4-stroke model engines. We have discussed these models with their original designers and received their permission to reproduce them. Respect of copyrights is the basis of our business. Our first Project is the F3A World Championship 1969 / 71 Winner Marabu. On the 23d and 24th of July, 1960, at the Swiss Airfield Dübendorf (near Zurich) the very first Radio-Controlled Aerobatic World Championship Contest was held (back then RCMM, now F3A). Two young Swiss R/C pilots, Emil and Bruno(+) Giezendanner took an immediate liking to this event and wanted to compete in future championships. Their first aerobatic design was the Pelican. The younger brother, Bruno, succeeded in winning the World Championship in 1969 and 1971 with their aerobatic model “Marabu”. In 1969, he won the RC1 contest in Bremen Lemwerder (Germany), and in 1971, he won the World Championship RC1 again in Doylestown, Pennsylvania (USA). In cooperation with the Swiss company Leomotion, using original drawings, we designed the ARF version of the Marabu. Our goal was to exactly reproduce the flying characteristics of original Marabu. The version of the Marabu offered here is World Championship model flown in 1969. Our Marabu is an ARF (Almost Ready to Fly) package, produced with the latest CNC technology.
