Update!!

Hi visited local hobby shop this morning for some advice. So both batteries packs are fine (even the original) so that rules out the batteries and the charger. Then took the TX apart and noticed a bit of corrosion on one of the chips so think this maybe why. I have emailed manufacturers to see if they can help in anyway and will check eBay etc.

Someone mentioned replacing the crystals ? Which j will have a look on you tube as don't even know what they look like let alone replace lol

It seems such a shame to potentially throw away if it is just the Tx but even then no guarantee it is that and replacing everything else is probably not cost effective.

Thanks to everyone that has commented it's much appreciated.

That transmitter needs a very careful looking at for reasons already mentioned corrosion of battery leads before and after the switch and indeed even onto the pcb. Imho I would say it is a right off. The good news is that good quality 27Mhz transmitters are still available second hand And the good news is with very few exceptions are cross manufacturer compatable you will need to confirm whether it is anam or fm system. Something like a Futaba challenger TX maybe and if it is a dry battery one maybe no harm has come to it. Don't get too hang up about the crystals though I wouldn't even consider changing them. Not much to go wrong unless they have suffered severe physical violence such as in a crash. Corrosion on the pins is worth checking though. Bear in mind that if you get a tx of a different make then it will need to have a crystal that is the same make as the TX. Suggest you ask at the lms they checked the batteries they will know what is compatable. Do bear in mind though that entry level 2.4g radio is cheap with plenty of good second hand stuff about and you could end up spending more getting your old stuff working
