Foxfan Posted August 12, 2019 Share Posted August 12, 2019 Blimey! Are they still there? I used to go and watch proceedings at Two Tree Island years ago when I lived in the Southend conurbation. It was when model helicopters were just in their infancy and they were banished to a side of the site almost out of sight! I used to watch pylon racing over there. One day there was a crunch behind me and one of those projectiles had gone clean through a lovely mahogany dinghy, both sides and into the mud beyond! MAP insurance (of blessed memory) paid out and the dinghy owner came to the club to thank the poor aircraft owner as he reckoned the boat was in need of a good revarnish and he'd been saved the hassle! I used to go to the Golf club caff and have a nice hot chocolate, then back to Leigh-on-sea for a plate of fresh cockles. Happy days.
