Dave S.
Probably a silly question, but is the the range of the 2.4 ghz systems as good as the 'old' 35 mhz? I was resurrecting an old 2 metre leccy glider yesterday and installed my Futaba 617 2.4 rx, then overnight started to remember that this light glider (was 700g, just lost 50 g in the lipo conversion) frequently gets very high and far away (absolute limit of eyesight) and I always had control with the old gear, will it be safe to fly at extreme range with 2.4? I expect it is the tiny aerials that make this old modeller a tad suspicious!
Tim Mackey
As long as you use a full range receiver, and follow the rules of installation it will exceed your eyesight Dave . Although I am not "officially"endorsing it, the so called park fly range AR6100/E Rx also has superb range - far beyond what you would call park fly and is fitted into some of my larger models. I also regularly fly a 46" sloper way way out and up - and thats fitted with the older DSM1 AR6000 receiver - absolutely superb range. Delta Whiskey
I think the 617 is a full range? same one I had in my little 450 heli, my instructor told me, you will easily lose sight of it, before losing control though I think that is the same thing as it will still end up crashing ! Tim Mackey
Sorry Dave...just spotted that you were asking about the fuby stuff.
Dave S.
Yes, the 617 is sold as full range, so I guess I'm worrying about nothing. Just one of those 3 a.m. random thoughts that wouldn't go away. I'll find something else to worry about now!
