Kit Carson
I have a Robbe Silence Glider and would like to put a electric motor on it. But not sure how to go about it any help would be great. Where does one put the motor? what type of motor? etc. Kit Carson
Tim Mackey
Well I guess you will have to chop the nose off and fit a bulkhead - nothing too heavy or meaty mind you, thats one joy of electric flight, you can lighten up this area of structure. You will need to consider the COG when planning the battery installation position. I expect you will come out at around 1.5 - 2lb when converted so you dont need much in the way of power. You might even get it less if you are happy to stooge around the sky and not expect missile type take off and climb rates, in which case around 150 watts and 2s lipo 1200 -1500 mahr should do it. Maybe a real cheapy combo like this ? For more ooomph, go to 3s LiPo around 1500 -2000m/ahr or so, and a motor / ESC combo something like this.
