Ross Clarkson
I have the above engine on my Alpha 40 with an APC 11x5 prop and ally spinner. Does anybody know what an ideal idle RPM and full power RPM is? Or is it too individual to say for each engine?
Steve Hargreaves - Moderator
I would say it varies too much.....fuel, engine, make of prop, even glow plug all make a difference. The best idle speed is one that is fast enough to be reliable & slow enough to let the model slow down sufficiently to land. In short provided the model flies in a way you are happy with then the engine revs are just fine.....certainly don't get hung up because your engine idles at 2,500 rpm & your mates at 2,200.....
