well most of teh info should be got from flair themselves but as a rule of thumb no further back than 30% of MAC   (mean aerodynamic chord) of the wing
 
 
example
root chord  300mm
tip chord     250mm   if the wing is not parrallel
300+250=550 divide 550 by 2because you want the mean of the root and the tip
550/2 =275*0.30=82.5
 
so start with 80mm back from the root and go fly from there
 
its the formula i have allways used (if i have had to) and its never left me in deep poo poo
