Ernie Smith
I've an old Enya 40 ss which was running fine, but now fails to slow run. I have checked the fuel lines and filters, exhaust pressure line, changed the glow-plug to no avail. The needle valve appears to be adjusting the main throttle mixtures OK. She starts OK and the compression feels normal. Can anyone tell me the function of the two spring-loaded adjustment screws on the carburettor block. I don't think they have been touched since the motor was running OK, but the one nearest the cylinder seems to be quite loose. Thanks, Ernie
Snorbitz
If its anything like my Enya 54-4 one of the screws is a slow speed screw and the other the high speed so the fact that one is very loose may explain why she won't idle so well. If its too far out she'll be flooding herself at idle.
Ernie Smith
Thanks Paul, I'll try adjusting them tomorrow..any idea which of the two is the slow-speed screw?
001
Is that engine fitted with an air-bleed carburettor, the one with a small hole on the front face? If so, there could be an obstruction such as a small piece of dirt in the hole, the remedy is to remove the needle and give the assembly a good clean. Ernie Smith
Richard, thanks, yes, there is the hole as you thought...I will do as you suggest tomorrow. This is an old motor, in an old UnoWot, flown by a learner old bloke...we were all doing well up to now....thanks again....Ennie
