  1. Good Evening Guys,

Could anyone point me in the direction of a plan or kit of one of these please? I remember the Crossfire so well and always wanted one,but never got round to building one. I heard sadly Howard is no longer with us now. It's a great shame, because he was a terrific designer and builder and an all round great guy from what I was told by all who had met him. Many Thanks And Kind Regards

    Steve

  2. Hi Rich,

Is there any chance of you doing a plan for this autogyro for either RCM&E or can I buy a plan off you please? It looks so cool and almost retro art deco thirties era about it!

    Many Thanks And Kind Regards

    Good news,

This has now been submitted to the powers that be, unfortunately it may be a while before it gets published as there is a canard in the latest issue, bad timing on my part so my apologies.

When I get chance I will put my usual shopping list together for anyone who wants to give either a crack.

One of my friends has kindly volunteered to beta build the canard version, I am sure he will post here on his progress once he gets started.

Is both versions ie canard and delta Shifty to be published together Rich?

    They both look brilliant 👏 👌 😎👍

    Neil,

Nice job on yours 😎, you cant go wrong with yellow. I look forward to hearing how you get on once your patch has dried out, the winter months will give you ample time to knock a few spares up 'just in case'.

    Affair,

I'm sorry, I thought I'd replied to your post but it looks like I missed it, your blades are light at 30g and would probably make your Gyroo a bit sensitive in roll. Like Neil has done just add tip weights into each blade to bring them up to spec, they need to be inset into the blade in front of the cord-wise CG.

This is just testing the water :

I've been thinking of scribbling up a 'Gyroo II',  this would be a pusher version using the same modular build as the tractor version, similar in size so as to utilize a lot of the parts from the Gyroo (blades, head, plates, servos etc).

I must admit I have way too many projects on the go but if there is enough interest it could jump to the top of the 'to do' list.

    What do you guys think?

    Rich

Definitely one for the future Rich, however I'd love to see you publish your beautiful Twister Autogyro first please 🙏 😎👍

The plan is coming along nicely. Just some annotating to finish off on the main fuselage sheet 1. The wing sheet 2 is 75% done, requiring mostly annotation to complete. Meanwhile I am progressing with the build and taking pictures for the RCM&E article. All a bit slower than I anticipated, due to unforeseen family events taking precedence.

A large balsa order just arrived so I am making up a plan pack for a couple of mates who will be additional build guinea pigs, just as soon as the plan is done and early copies are made. Just to prove that the prototype wasn't a fluke 😉

I'm keen to move on to a ducted fan version which I've decided will be stealthy in appearance like the Tempest or Raptor.

You Certainly have a fine eye for detail that plan looks absolutely terrific, well done!👏 😎👍

Still no paint applied, but now close to sixty flights and nearly all of the minor issues solved. The Whirlwind is now an easy flying every day model 🙂

With the wide speed range, long flight duration and stable flying characteristics it's especially great for formation flights with all kind of other models.

    Hi Timo,

I think all your projects are truly amazing and this Wirlwind is no exception,an absolutely gorgeous work of art! I really would love to see all of your designs from the simplist to the most complicated printed as plans in RCM&E for others to enjoy in time. So how about it good Sir?

    Keep up the good work.

    Many Thanks And Kind Regards

Yes, I've seen that one too.

Yesterday I spent 8 hours flying various models at Epsom Downs. Just got this shot of my Top Quark from a fellow member.

I definitely hope you submit the Quark series of designs to RCM&E soon as I'd be interested in giving them a go out of Correx which a friend and Fleet MFC member gives me for free! Incidentally I fly and am a member of Chobham MFC and would love it if you could pop up with them sometime also. I have made an F22 Raptor out of Correx and it seems to be indestructible so far even making a noticeable dent in a metal barrier 😂

Hi Steve, hope you will post thread about making your version, interest in choice of small motors used, but that's a bag of sweets for the future thread.

Yes I'll definitely start a separate thread for it,won't be happening soon but it'll be interesting how it pan's out as I plan to build out of Correx like an F22 Raptor I've made for a friend who flys at Fleet MFC Hampshire.

Four .010 's 😳 it's making my ears bleed just looking at it !!

That's why I intend to use very small brushless motors. Cox engines are worth a bomb now, real collectors gems but like you say unsilenced are extremely noisy and probably totally unacceptable to use in most clubs nowadays!

  12. Hi Guys,

Can anyone tell me or send a link to get back issues at the normal cover prices plus free or sensible postage fees please? I'm pretty sure there was a site affiliated with RCM&E for back issues in the past, but can't remember name and don't see useful links like you used to on old site. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

    Kindest Regards

    Steve 🙂

Nice Raptors Steve, they will be almost indestructible!

Uncanny is a bigger canard so would kind of defeat the object of the one fuselage/two wing plans idea. However, I think the Shifty duo would scale up nicely, or down for that matter.

I have been pondering over a few colour scheme ideas. I need to sort out what covering I have and go from there, it doesn't need much.

A better canopy has been made and a suitable sized pilot printed, just need to colour him.

    Rich

Oh yes I see what you mean, but that wasn't what I meant. What I meant was to have the Uncanny printed in the mag at the same time on a separate sheet so effectively 1 fuselage(2 wings as above designs) then Uncanny separately so a plan trio in that aspect. Sorry I don't explain myself very well, hope I've done a better job this time.

    😂🤪😎👌👍

  14. They look fantastic Richard!

Would there ever likely be a chance of doing The Uncanny as like maybe a plan trio with these two,or a 1.5 or 2x version as that was so cool like these? I'm making some F22 Raptors(for me and two mates)out of Correx/Corro-Plas atm as I get for free off a friend instead of cardboard as plan states. Good luck with them and still keep your terrific Giros coming 😀 👍

  18. Hi Rich,

The Twister is without doubt the best looking autogyro out of all your marvellous creations. A great many seasoned gyronuts and potential gyronuts would be very pleased to see a plan of this in the mag.

Congratulations on another superb design Sir.

    Kind Regards
