Motors ...for beginners - please keep it simple
Steve Adams replied to Tim Mackey's topic in Electric Flight for Beginners
Thankyou so much,I used to fly ic in the 90s and only been back in the hobby a year or so,wow so much has changed, but I don't know much about electric set ups and I'm keen to preserve this airframe as sentimental to me but I want it flying again also. -

Hi Everyone, I have an old ic balsa and ply model aircraft that my mate(who is no longer with us) built me and was his own design and was powered well with an Enya 40 two stroke. My question is this plane is 2.5 kg dry 58 inch wingspan mid wing sport trainer, what would be ideal set up on electric ie motor, esc and battery please? Cheers Steveππ -
Hi Guy's, Sorry to be a pain again would any of you possibly have Zulu E and Zulu ET by Lindsay Todd that you could scan a pdf of the articles and plans please? Many Thanks In Advance Steveπππ

I was planning on giving it a go out of Correx/Corro-Plas which a mate gets me for free,so I could guesstimate and would produce a tough model anyway πππππ -

I'd absolutely love to see a plan of that in RCM&E,it's gorgeous! Would you consider drawing a plan up at all Sir? Kind Regards Steve ππ -
I think your aircraft look amazing Simon! I'd love to see TN design some more obscure British and other countries jets in edf form, printed in RCM&E. You are also a terrific designer and builder Sir! Please keep all your designs coming,I always watch with interest and am in awe of your creativity! Kind Regards Steveπππ

Howard Metcalfe Crossfire.
Steve Adams replied to Andrew Calcutt's topic in General Electric Flight Chat
Good Evening Guys, Could anyone point me in the direction of a plan or kit of one of these please? I remember the Crossfire so well and always wanted one,but never got round to building one. I heard sadly Howard is no longer with us now. It's a great shame, because he was a terrific designer and builder and an all round great guy from what I was told by all who had met him. Many Thanks And Kind Regards Steve -
Hi Rich, Is there any chance of you doing a plan for this autogyro for either RCM&E or can I buy a plan off you please? It looks so cool and almost retro art deco thirties era about it! Many Thanks And Kind Regards Steve ππ€ππ
-
Is both versions ie canard and delta Shifty to be published together Rich? They both look brilliant π π ππ
-
Definitely one for the future Rich, however I'd love to see you publish your beautiful Twister Autogyro first please π ππ
-
You Certainly have a fine eye for detail that plan looks absolutely terrific, well done!π ππ

Hi Timo, I think all your projects are truly amazing and this Wirlwind is no exception,an absolutely gorgeous work of art! I really would love to see all of your designs from the simplist to the most complicated printed as plans in RCM&E for others to enjoy in time. So how about it good Sir? Keep up the good work. Many Thanks And Kind Regards Steveπππ

I definitely hope you submit the Quark series of designs to RCM&E soon as I'd be interested in giving them a go out of Correx which a friend and Fleet MFC member gives me for free! Incidentally I fly and am a member of Chobham MFC and would love it if you could pop up with them sometime also. I have made an F22 Raptor out of Correx and it seems to be indestructible so far even making a noticeable dent in a metal barrier π
-
That's certainly unorthodox! Any particular reason for anhedral as opposed to dihedral on the wings Lindsay?
-
Yes I'll definitely start a separate thread for it,won't be happening soon but it'll be interesting how it pan's out as I plan to build out of Correx like an F22 Raptor I've made for a friend who flys at Fleet MFC Hampshire.

That's why I intend to use very small brushless motors. Cox engines are worth a bomb now, real collectors gems but like you say unsilenced are extremely noisy and probably totally unacceptable to use in most clubs nowadays!

Hi Guys I'm looking for a set of plans for the mini HP42 airliner for Cox TD 010/020 engines in a mid to late 90s Radio Modeller magazine please and Oodally if you could scan and send pdf would be fantastic. Many thanks and kind regards Steve
-
Yes Sir I'm in Woking Surrey Irvine is brand new in box with receipt I think is twin ball raced and British made a real gem for a collector so I'm told! I've sent you a pm with all my details if you're still interested π

Hi Guys, Can anyone tell me or send a link to get back issues at the normal cover prices plus free or sensible postage fees please? I'm pretty sure there was a site affiliated with RCM&E for back issues in the past, but can't remember name and don't see useful links like you used to on old site. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance. Kindest Regards Steve π

Oh yes I see what you mean, but that wasn't what I meant. What I meant was to have the Uncanny printed in the mag at the same time on a separate sheet so effectively 1 fuselage(2 wings as above designs) then Uncanny separately so a plan trio in that aspect. Sorry I don't explain myself very well, hope I've done a better job this time. ππ€ͺπππ
