Thanks Andy . When you look at the plan i think there is a bit of artistic licence in the joiner. Jonny -
A sticky situation

Oh phooey. I've used quite a bit of cyano building my gentle lady wings. Hope they don't snap off. Fingers crossed i've decided not to make a leccy version so hopefully the wings will not be under too much stress. Will try to keep off the cyano around the wing in future!

I have decided to build my gentle lady wing as a 1 piece. (thanks everyone for the advice regarding this). I'm now scratching my head as i am trying to join inboard and outboard wing panels at polyhedral. There seems to be a slight horizontal angle in the wing joiners. As they are 1/16" ply they are quite rigid so can't put any bend in. I'm really not sure where to go with this so any help will be most apreciated. Cheers jonny

Gentle Lady wing
jonathan broadhurst replied to jonathan broadhurst's topic in Building from Traditional Kits and Plans
Thats thrown a spanner in the works Dave. I was going to make it as a 3 piece. I'm finding the plan a bit confusing at this stage. It says that a 2 piece is a more difficult one and a heavier one, yet as i read it, you connect the 2 inboard panels in the same way as a 3 piece. Also am i supposed to only apply glue to 1 side i.e. wing joiner. It says this then contradicts itself by saying by saying reconnect wing halves and apply glue to joiner(s). If i do this then it's a 1 piece. I apologize if i sound like an idiot. You may have noticed i'm new to this building lark -

Thanks Dave will do. As for local model shop their are none left near me. (The downside to the net i guess) -
Hi just to let you you now i'm well into building the wings on my goldberg gentle lady. I'm up to the bit where i decide it to be a 2piece or 3piece construction. It seems most people recommend the latter(net research) .If i am to build it as a 3 piece i need some additional bits i.e. 1/8" balsa sheet, 3/32" music wire, 3/32" brass tube ,3/4" nylon tape. Can someone recommend where i can get these. Is there someone who can supply all these extras in uk. Thanks

Hinge
jonathan broadhurst replied to jonathan broadhurst's topic in Building from Traditional Kits and Plans
Thanks for that Timbo. Not done any covering before so i was edging towards a centre bevel hinge. -
I've started glueing my Goldgerg Gentle Lady. I have built stab, fin and rudder. The plan says that i can hinge the rudder and elevator using two methods. Centre bevel technique or hinged covering. Can anyone advise me as to which is best method (bearing in mind i'm a new builder). Thanks

Got some T pins and odourless cyno from modelmania online. Ordered yesterday afternoon came this morning.Wow. Also ordered a building board from smc models. Thought their payment system was a bit iffy .Still not been told what postage i'll have to pay.
