  1. Same thing happened to me. It just occured to me that I only need to finish painting the cowl and it will be ready to fly. I will assemble it and test run the engine in the plane in the next day or so.
  2. The plan is the Roy Garner 1-4.5 scale version from Traplet. It was the nearest in size to my needs.

  4. Fitting the aileron servos and pushrods. The clevis are screwed onto a 3mm threaded rod with a 4mm carbon sleeve. At the aileron end is a ball bearing connection.

  6. The pilot rests on a removable platform above the servos. I like to use masking tape around the hinge holes which can be removed before it sets. Makes cleaning up much easier. The pin hinges were coated with Vaseline at the pivot before fitting.     Finally with all controls attached.   Next glue the canopy to its frame. Edited By Glyn R on 22/08/2016 09:37:58

  11. Thanks for all the kind words. Even though we have never met it has helped. I have started to finally fix the elevator and rudder. The pilot has a home so some progress has been made. I will post pics shortly.
  12. Posted by Glyn R on 10/08/2016 16:20:13: There has been a tragedy in my life. My wife lost her battle with cancer on July 23rd 2016. I now have to pick up the pieces so the Extra will recommence. I don't know how I came to get the date wrong. I guess it only matters to me, so the date was actually July 13th 2016. Thanks for all the condolences. Edited By Glyn R on 10/08/2016 17:29:20

  14. You are obviously in doubt or the question would not be asked. How will you feel next time you fly using this battery? Is it worth all the hassle for one Rx pack?
  15. As far as I can tell Pacer hinge glue is no longer available. There are posts which say that canopy glue is the same. I think I will stick to epoxy. I have done this before it's fine but fiddly. Edited By Glyn R on 12/06/2016 17:59:26
  16. I have finished the fuse covering. I am about to glue in the Robart hinges. I normally use epoxy but I recently read about using canopy glue. Anyone tried it, should be less messy.

  18. Then there is a model related problem. Which wouldn't have been obvious without the test on the stand.
  19. I don't run them in on the stand. I just like to know everything works before it's enclosed. I will test run it again in the plane before I go to the field. I can't stand arriving and finding out I have made a mistake. It also gives me a chance to try the prop and check rpm. There is nothing worse than an engine that won't start.
  20. Kitchen is finished! Back to the Extra. Some progress with the rudder. Just the elevators and one aileron to cover. Time to test run the engine before it goes finally into the model. I built this test stand some time ago when my first petrol engine shook the previous one to bits. I just need it to stop raining.
