Great to see you underway with this Phil, and a superb, considered choice I think - It looks like you are making great progress too - some lovely shapes in those formers!
'Double check your grain direction' and 'keep your scalpel blade sharp' would be my advice in this 'new' material and you will really enjoy working with balsa im sure - give me a ring anytime if you have any questions.

Reminder that our next PSSA event at The Great Orme in May we will be marking the 80th Anniversary of the RAF 617 Sqn 'Dambusters' raid by bringing together as many PSS Lancasters as we can muster - if you have a PSS Lancaster in your flying arsenal and can prepare it for our event please do join us! - Around the usual Fly for Fun set up there will be dedicated Lancaster flying slots and there will be a static area set up for all the models set to be viewed up close when not in action!
See you there 20th/21st May!

Looking really good Phil, you've captured the shape very nicely - especially around the base of the fin T/E and the tailplane area - very nice!

Any pictures Mike, I must admit Im not familiar with the kit and a quick search online doesnt bring up anything under the title.
Vulcans generally make very good all round PSS models regardless of size - good wing area, clean lines, solid shape. Foam wing panels are good too, robust etc, do you know what sort of section it uses??
Vac forms - not so good generally - they get cold and can go brittle on the slope, so do condsider some strengthening on any large unsupported structures, PSS models have a tougher life than power, not landing on wheels or on prepared strips. Are the vac forms ABS, Polycarb, other?
Would love to see a picture or two and learn more about the model youve been gifted, sounds more like a thank-you than a punch due to me! 😉

what is the quality of the plugs like? I've been striggling to find futaba extension leads with quality plugs for a while, the fit is either too tight or too sloppy for confidence.

Hi all,
Having completed a little work with local councils and club commitees the PSSA is happy to announce its plans for flying events between April and October 2023.
More details on the PSSA website, our Facebook page and in the modelflying site Events calendar.

Really impressive building Phil, you do make some wonderful shapes with Correx, its mind blowing - I will keep on at you for your first Balsa build but I must admit I cant wait to see your new bigger Super Cosair up close! Great work on the vac form canopy btw - impressive again!!

Hiya Phil - some great progress and you've got the shape looking really good!! Just one question for clarity on your wing re: the glass cloth - do you mean you will be joining the 2 wing halves with a 1" glass bandage along the centreline? As I think this is essential without the use of a ply wing joiner here - Just want to clarify you are not reliant upon the surface finishing glass cloth as I think it could be read that way...

That really is a work of art Dirk, really impressive. Adding the door panels will be the easy bit, your alignment, actuation and pivot work already completed is where the real work lies! Impressive if you've achieved that with hand drawings alone - ie - no CAD.

excellent progress Phil, looks good with the rear top deck all done nice and round!

Great work Dirk, coming along very nicely, superb craftsmanship throughout - very impressed that you made your own bespoke offest hinges for the gear doors. fantastic!!

Lots of nice schemes to choose from, finding one thats not been modelled before is the challenge! Not essential of course Phil!
Seen the Hawk gallery on the PSSA site? - a few more in there!
I've always liked this one from 100 Sqn - dont think this has been modelled yet, not on the slope anyway (maybe in the turbine community??)
