  1. No B Cert but I don't fly with a club - I'm trying to find a new flying site (based on the Wirral) - as secluded as possible as I hate an audience! I have a boat and sail and often find a secluded sand bank during the summer to fly on...
  2. I have a Wren 80 Kero start engine and looking for advice on the most stable airframe it could go in... Not interested in speed ATm but like a good looking model - being able to take off and land on grass would be a huge advantage .... My record with smaller (faster) DF models can be obtained from the bin man! Greg...
  3. Dear all, We are a secondary school based on the Wirral. We have a Nitro JP prankster. Our school site is surrounded by lots of things, but notably two busy main roads... Would someone like to offer advice if you look on google satellite images at postcode CH43 7QT - the site is the big green bit bound by hoylake road, bidston village road, Lennox lane and fender lane. The school is single story so not a high rise hazard! We have access to all the green bit and there are no footpaths within the fields. I have written confirmation that flying will be covered by our school liability cover but I have to do a risk assessment, including a site one which is currently as long as my arm. there are local clubs but if we can fly on 'our' site it would be excellent. There are always risks I know, and for example a model crashing in the road could be serious, but so long as the likelyhood is not high it will be permitted. Any know of any case history of model aircraft vs main road aciedents? Thanks in advance, Greg.. ou
  4. Hi I have a little used vintage os fs 61 which clicks from the cam shaft as it turns though the same point in the cycle If I remove the top bearing cover the bearing isn't 'tight' onto the cam shaft ends and pulls off very easy... And the noise goes if I press and hold the cam shaft down.. I'm assuming it is because the cam shaft should be relativly tight in the centre of the bearing? It isn't the followers sticking or anything i've checked all this..; I think the noise is comming from the centre worm gear of the cam shaft slapping the followers as it's floating around (as the shaft ends are not tight in the bearings) The bearings are clean, free running.. No tarnishing, rust etc The engine runs and pulls fine.., Do I need a new set of bearings and possibly a cam shaft?? Or do all os fs click?? Where do I get bearings from cheap??
  5.   I have just brought this engine out of retirement. It's never flown but was run last about 15 years ago.
  6. Heres my list of possible names.... 'EMC2' - A take on the engery mass equation. 'Brainstorm' 'Sublime' - As in the change of state, Direct from Solid to Gas
  7. Trying to finish off a Pilot Models SuperCub could really do with the plan!   Anyone know of them?   Greg..
  8. I shall pick it up and work out where to go from there. I may just sell it i think i have enough on my plate!   I have a similar size cub already going to have a fleet soon!    Edited By Greg Chiswell on 08/09/2009 22:51:39
  9. I have no idea! As i said it was a blind shot! It has a very robust looking slide engine mount. I'm assuming a 60 to 80 size but its old Satio as its a one part muffler.   I 'think' it was worth the 120 gamble, the old (but never used) FS would suit something else (Assuming its not a nightmare to run!) could be a really nice scale model with the correct finishing.  Just going to have to scratch build componets if i can't identify the model/plan.
  10. Hi folks,   Just taken a 120 quid gamble on ebay and purchased this piper cub model. Hope i have not just wasted a 120 lol   Its glass fibre fuserarge and cowl, with wood covered foam winds. Im guessing its a satio fs engine, its all new but i need to identfy the actual model so i know what i am dealing with...   Desicription   Wingspan 6ft, total length 53inch Engine unknown?   Pictures:   Any ides?!
  11. cheers for the advice. I've got a load of epoxy left over from boat repairs so I'll go down that route. Will post pictures of the final product in time..   Cheers,   Greg..
  12. I have a vintage Piper Cub (1990 ish) with an OS FS61 which i have never flown, still all like new! Has flaps and everything! Lovely model - Anyhow it is missing it's cowl.   Is there a selection of cowls available to buy off the shelf (if so where?) or how hard are they to make yourself? If so some pointers would be appreciated.   Regards,   Greg
