  2.   Hi, I have recently purchased a 480w EMAX motor coupled with an EMAX 40amp ESC and am looking for help, to match these with a suitable lipo with the right mAh Capacity and C rating for my biplane which weighs in at 4lb. I have a APC 12x6 prop, but the recommended prop for this motor is a 10x5 could I use either prop or will the 12x6 draw to much current?   Many thanks for any help. 3. Scooby, the air intakes on early variants could be retracted, but why? I dont know!!,the Nimrods intake was to become larger as the design moved closer to the Hawker Hurricane. Edited By matt jarvis on 06/03/2011 16:19:00

  7. Hi,  I'm looking for a brushless outrunner motor for my biplane, the AUW is 2KG (4.4lb)and the prop I have is a 12x6. At the moment the plane is fitted with an eflite 480 motor which I know has'nt got enough Watts per pound can anyone recomend a good choice of motor for this weight of model. THX MATT.
  8. Thanks for the advice.Should I balance from under the top wing or turn the biplane over? Answer to your question Simon. This is a Hawker Nimrod mk II , built from the westwings Hawker Hart plan  802  squadren fleetairarm 1939.

    BALANCE

If you up scale from a  smaller plan, is the balancing point on the new larger build the same ? I have completed a build like this and need to balance the plane. The wingspan is 55" and the balancing point is 8.5 cm from the leading edge of the top wing.  With the 1800 lipo installed, the plane balances with a small amount of nose up with my fingers under  the planse balancing points.  Should I use the balancing points from the plan with a little added weight to the nose?

  11. The insperation behind building my Hawker Nimrod was that this was one of the types of biplanes stationed on HMS Glorious in 1940,my Grandfather was lost on this ship when it was sunk by the German warship Scharnhorst off Norway June 8th 1940. I think its an unusual choice of model for my first build, but I found that by just photocopying an old Westwings Hawker hart plan from 1/18 to 1/9th (no distortion I checked )shows how easy it is to upscale and modify a plan in to a new model. Also canniblising an old Parkzone T29 Trojan for the electrics made it cheap to,  Wingspan 55"5 channel All up weight 1020kg Parkzone/Eflite 450 920Kv brushless outrunner motor.
