  1. I notice two gents have already voted for a nice civvy twin.  electric or glow (2 x .25).  In order of preference: 1. Beech D18 (pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease) 2. Piper Twin Comanche 3. Piper Twin Aztec   or any other classic civilian twin.  The beech can't be too hard for you.  Go for it.  Please. Please. Please. Please.
  2. Hi, has anyone out there built and flown this model.  I'm considering getting one to get some twin experience, and also getting 2 SC .25's for it.  Apreciate any feedback.  Thanks.
  3. Dave, I've bought a plan from ebay (of course) for the old Royal kit. 70 inch span but you could do the same and downsize using a good copy shop?  Otherwise see if Sunset Models in USA still have any Cessna 310 kits left that you can modify to look like a Beech?
  4. From sunny little Malta (even though it's rained non-stop all week and blowing a gale this weekend!): 1. Beech D-18 / C-47; around 60-65 inch for two .25's or affordable electric 2. Cessna 310 / Piper Twin Aztec/Comanche same size as above 3. Classic aerobat like Zlin, Spinks Acromaster etc. Anything but yet another warbird. Can you tell I like classic twins Chris Poulton Malta
  5. Been through them all but no joy Eric.  just sent David a PM to see if he would be able to trace through some older posts but not holding my breath.  Hopefully somebody else will reply, maybe the builder?
  6. Anyone?  This plan is also sold by www.myunclewillies.com in electronic format (after having removed the designer's name of course - would love to call him names but this is too polite a forum!). Thanks.
  7. Martin, I have 3 models from Richmodel (they are imported to Malta by a friend).  They are an Ultimate 40S (41 inch span), a Long-Ez .46 (56 inch span), and a P-38 Lightning (51.5 inch span). The Ultimate is reasonably good, great every-day, chuck-in-the-boot flyer, needs a lot of right and down thrust - much more than built in to the firewall.  Would help if you beefed up the undercarriage mounting before assembly.  The Long-Ez is.... different.  It's a canard, stall speed really slow.  Undercarriage is a bit too far back from the CG which made landings interesting until I got the hang of it (basically come in a bit faster than you would with a conventional model and you can do greasers every time)  Otherwise flies well enough, although mainly flat out with a .46.  The P-38 is new and as yet has only flown twice.  2 x 350W motors in it with 3-blade counter-rotating props.  Builds OK, slightly nose-heavy.  Flies great, lands beatifully as long as you keep a bit of power on.  Switching to 2-blade props for better efficiency.  Can't comment on other Richmodel kits as I dont have any more.  Except that my Dad has their new HondaJet.  Flies great with 2 x 650W motors in it.  As with most ARTF's though, the undercarriage ripped out on the first outing.
  8. Hi all, just joined this site.  Has anyone built, or seen built and flying) a Beech 18 designed by Graham Hughes and sold as a plan by another magazine?  80 inch span for 2 x .40 2-strokes or 40-50 4-strokes. Thanks. Chris.
