Out of interest Richard, how many people are going to be building your Mustang?
Hopefully we shall see plenty of build logs popping up on this forum.
I still need to finish my TN Hawk before starting mine.

Hi Barrie,
I have mine as far forward as I could get it which is in the nose next to the battery. I still needed a small amount of nose weight to achieve the c of g.

Hi Martin.
I am using roughly equal amounts of light weight filler, talc (baby powder) and water based varnish. Then add a dab of paint for colour and thin with a bit of water to a thick paint consistency.

A few more bits done:
I have given the wing a coat of sauce and sanded back, also added the anti stall fins (which I nearly forgot).
Installed the anti roll fins to the bottom of the fuselarge. I made a jig to help get the angle correct.
I have also designed and 3d printed a pair of air intakes that will be fitted to the top hatch.

If you have motor standoffs (spacers) you can possible use cable ties to attach the ESC to them. Gives a nice airflow over both sides of the ESC.

Hi Mark,
Would an STL file of the mount be any use to you?

I've made a start on the covering. I probably should have gone down the 'iron on' route, because I know that weight is going to be an issue, but for a scale model I much prefer a paint finish.
I think I am going to try and fly this one before painting and attaching the side air intakes / cockpit detail.

I am surprised to learn that a wing strut doesn't need to be fixed at both ends.

Not sure about Dale - I'm getting more of a Jeremy Clarkson vibe!

Looking at the pictures I might open up the air intake holes a bit more.

Thanks for the pics Martin.
Little bit more done on mine:
I made up some base plates for the air intakes and glued them on using canopy glue. Then made a paper template for the cutout, attacked it with the drill and sanded smooth.
I have also 3d printed an exhaust ring and glued that on with canopy glue.

We could be on to something

Hi Paul,
Coming along nicely. I guess from your pictures that it is 'self jigging' or would you advise using a SLEC type fuselage jig if you have one?
I tend to use non stick oven liner as a base for gluing things up. I haven't found a glue that sticks to it yet, and the 'other half' has a roll of it in the kitchen (hope she doesn't read this).

Hi Richard,
Your attention to detail is appreciated.
My view is 'take as long as you need and produce something that you are happy with'.

I have finished fitting and pinning all the control surfaces and thought I would put all the pieces together, for the first time, and see how it looks.
As we are in lockdown again, I think I will go ahead with the painting and have it fully finished before the maiden.
