  1. Hi all. I have some E-flite 15-25 retracts (EFLG200) that have a 3.5mm strut diameter. Does anyone know of any Oleos that will fit these retracts (around about 100mm long)? I have been hunting around with little success – most Oleos have a 5mm strut. Failing that, has anyone used some sort of 5mm-3.5mm reducer? P.S. They will be used in a Cambrian Spitfire - 55inch version.
  2. All gone quite for a while CS.....I guess you must have finished!!!!!!
  3. Hi CS. How are things progressing with the build? I have a couple of questions, if you don't mind. What wheels did you go for (and where did you get them). I note on the plan is says 70mm wheels but in the instruction book it suggest using 50mm if installing retracts. Also, I notice the wing joining method does not have a brace glued in. Does it appear strong enough with just butt jointed foam glued together - I guess you will be reinforcing the joint with fiibre glass and epoxy.
  4. I will be watching with interest as I have just got one of these kits which (when I get around to it) I will also be building electric and using E-Flite retracts.
  5. Wow, that does sound complicated (and a little scary). I will indeed have a look at the Tiffie blog. Many thanks.
  6. Having never played with retracts before, this may be a stupid question but...... If the body of the retract unit is mounted flush and parallel with the wing surface, will it not then fully retract? Hope that made sense.
  7. Hi CS. I have just picked up one of these at the Southern Model Airshow today so will be following your thread with interest. I just wondered what retracts you have - are they the eflite 15-25 90 degree ones? I will be building mine electric, when I get around to it (I am a very slow builder). I am off to open the box and see what is inside.
  8. Popped over to the field today with the Mini Panic for it’s maiden voyage. The wind was a bit gusty but not too bad. Took a deep breath, opened the taps and away she went. After a bit of trimming she flew magnificently – should have had more faith in my building ability. Four flights later we both came home in one piece!
  9. It's pretty much done - I can't believe how slow I've been (enjoyed it though). Not too sure where the CofG should be. I have balanced it at 3 inches behind the leading edge of the top wing. What has anyone else used? Also, what size prop? (I have a 9x6 on but have not put it on the watt meter yet). When I fitted the landing gear I found that the elevator was touching the ground. After a bit of head scratching I added a horn to act as a skid. On testing, it was acting more like an anchor so I have fitted a small wheel. It might not be man enough for the job but we will see.
  10. You are not alone........built my Fusion a while back but still yet to get in the air.   Edited By Geoff Gardiner on 18/03/2013 23:05:19
  11. Hi Jimmy. Are you thinking of doing a build blog for the Pup E. There don't seem to be any/many on the net. I have one under the bench waiting to be started so would be keen to follow your progress. Geoff...
  12. Hi Kc. Well spotted - I actually had not noticed myself. Fingers crossed that it will not make any difference. Good luck with the Mini Frantic build...
  13. Been busy lately but have done a bit of tinkering today. I went to Avicraft regarding the missing bits from the kit and they were most helpful and sorted me out with the required items – only problem was I chatted so long, I got a parking ticket! I have made the top wing – just needs sanding. Fitted a battery tray. Installed the servos in the fuselage. I have decided to use the Towerpro MG90’s
  14. Well.........I kinda got side-tracked with various other ARTF builds and have only just started on the Mini Panic. This being my first build from a bunch of sticks, I thought I would update this thread. I believe this kit has been improved upon since I purchased mine. I Started with a wing and ran into a couple of problems: I found it a bit tricky (using the flat foam rib spacer jig) to get all the ribs straight and true. I believe the latest kit has tabs on the ribs to help this part of the build. My Kit is miising the shear webbing. A fact I did not realise until after I had cut up one ot the trailing edge sheeting strips to use for webbing - I will have to get some spare balsa for the other wing. Also I found that after I had glued the edge of the leading edge sheeting, to the leading edge with thin CA, when I tried to bend the remaining sheet around the ribs - it cracked. Hopefully this will sand down OK. There is a bit of a warp in the tip of the trailing edge, on one side. It's not massive and I am hoping I can pull it straight when I cover the wing. I also made a start on the Fuselage. I have ground to a halt as I need to get some wood to make a battery 'shelf' and work out where to fit the servos (I have tower pro 9g SG90's - hope they will be man enough for the job). That's all for now. P.S. I am a slow builder....
  15. Hi All. I am just putting together a Kyosho Stinson Reliant that I purchased 2nd hand. It is the gas version which I have converted to electric. The kit is missing the side windows and my question is this: If I leave the side windows 'unglazed' in order to increase aiflow (I have drilled holes in the firewall) over the battery and esc, is this likely to cause a lot of drag and effect flight performance?
  16. I am about to start building one of these so shall follow this thread with interest. How did you find the build - it looks quite straight forward.
