  1. Hi, having spent all this winter building in my home workshop, today was the day.Weather perfect, steady southerly 12 knots, 16 degrees, sun shining.....Designed the plane myself, leaning heavily on your booklet on Tony Nuuis's multi engine desihns, excellent reference. Span 72 in, wing area 3.5 sq. ft. mass 6.5 lb, wing loading higher than target at around 32 oz/sq ft, but same as his DC3 and Miles van.Twin Eflight 480 motors, test run showed 250w LH 8000rpm 22 amps, 240 w RH 7600 rpm 19 amps. props are 10 x7 electric.  Had to add 90 g to front turret to balance at 2 5/8 from LE (chord 8 in) Flew like a large glider, only 2 clicks aileron trim needed for hands off flight. power off no wing drop. Batteries 2 x 2150 11.1 volt 30 C.  Must say I stretched the wing chord as the original davis B24 wing is too low in area for models.Hve several fotos I could add if I knew how!
  2. Hi, I built an Apollo but shortened span to 2 metres to meet local contest rules.Wing construction as per plan with carbon tube spars.Flew beautifully and floated better than any previous designs. 2 sundays ago i was having a ball on a clear windless day.Suddenly model glitched, then cam good. kept flying until glitched again and straight down from 150 ft.Wing bent at centre, front fuselage and motor smashed. Main wing spar crumpled for one rib span. Sleeved withsplit length of spar for 2 rib spans, glude with epoxy held by clothes pegs. Wing as good as new and repair not visible....tough wing!!!!Built new front fuselage and fitted more powerful brushless motor, longer nose so no weight needed.  Flew her yesterday....even better than original....climbs vertical and even more of a floater, so much so that i overshoot landing by 50 + metres. Carbon spars for all my gliders in future.
