  1. At the risk of resurrecting an old post, I would be interested to find out what powertrain the 'leccy flyers have used to convert the silhouette. I would like to finish mine and go down the electric route. Cheers,
  2. Got to miss it this year only the second time since 1992...... flippin' work!! Skeet
  3. I'm in the middle of my build of one of these. Was a bit stuck for the colour scheme till i saw this thread. Some beauties there.
  4. Is there a lma at elvington this august?
  5. I am currently hinging the surfaces on my current build and I am using the two piece pinned hinges that came with the kit. i have fitted the hinges to the rudder and elevator. They are fitted right up to the pinned part. I have slotted the fixed part of the tail ready for fitting. My problem is that, when I have dry fitted them together, there seems to be a large gap between the movable part and the fixed part.(about 3-4mm) Is this normal for this type of hinge? If not how can I close the gap? ( it's the 1st time I have used this type)
  6. Thanks fellas.   not a BMFA member at the Mo. I'll keep me eyes peeled.     Nige
  7. Just been over to the BMFA website to try and d/l an application form just for camping/spectating at the August Nats, but all I can find is competitors app forms.   Am I a little early?   Or have i missed something on the competitor forms?     Cheers for any help   Nige
  8. Many thanks to all.   Points about the threadlock taken.   I must say that this is my first ARTF, and I am quite impressed with the quality. I was a bit dubious, having heard (and read) some horror stories.
  9. thanks all,   That's helped a lot. I shouldn't have any "black wire" probs because I replaced the ni cads, being aware of that particular nasty. I'm a bit more confident now of dusting the old gear off.       Nige
  10. I had my credit card cloned online. I didn't report it though, they are spending a lot less than my missus
  11. Thanks for the quick reply, Gaz. I don't have club at the mo. but, I'll give the range check a bash.....     Nige
  12. I am almost finished in the "build" of my Arising Star in order to get back into the air.   Thing is, it comes with those pushrod connectors with the screw in the top. They are easy to adjust and fettle but.....are they any good and would it be better to junk them and replace them with "proper" clevises?   AND   should I junk the fuel tank for a more established brand?     Thanks in advance   Nige
  13. I have my old HiTec Focus 6 on 35MHz It is about 8 years old and has never been used in anger. I have bought new NiCads for it and the receiver, in case of any probs with those. The set has no other damage and, as far as I can see there would be no problem using it.    Would it be advisable to replace the crystals too?   I've just bought myself a Spektrum DX6i so I can use that but I would like to have the option of using the old Focus if I can. Cheers in advance   Nige
  14. Neil,   I know there used to be a club at Thorne. I appreciate it might be some way from you, but if you aren't getting much joy elsewhere. Beacause I've been away a bit, I don't know if they are still there.   Regards   Nige
