  1. I am currently hinging the surfaces on my current build and I am using the two piece pinned hinges that came with the kit. i have fitted the hinges to the rudder and elevator. They are fitted right up to the pinned part. I have slotted the fixed part of the tail ready for fitting.

My problem is that, when I have dry fitted them together, there seems to be a large gap between the movable part and the fixed part.(about 3-4mm)

Is this normal for this type of hinge? If not how can I close the gap? ( it's the 1st time I have used this type)

  2. Just been over to the BMFA website to try and d/l an application form just for camping/spectating at the August Nats, but all I can find is competitors app forms.

    Am I a little early?

Or have i missed something on the competitor forms?

    Cheers for any help

  3. I am almost finished in the "build" of my Arising Star in order to get back into the air.

Thing is, it comes with those pushrod connectors with the screw in the top. They are easy to adjust and fettle but.....are they any good and would it be better to junk them and replace them with "proper" clevises?

    AND

should I junk the fuel tank for a more established brand?

    Thanks in advance

  4. I have my old HiTec Focus 6 on 35MHz It is about 8 years old and has never been used in anger. I have bought new NiCads for it and the receiver, in case of any probs with those. The set has no other damage and, as far as I can see there would be no problem using it.

Would it be advisable to replace the crystals too?

I've just bought myself a Spektrum DX6i so I can use that but I would like to have the option of using the old Focus if I can.
    Cheers in advance

Ross, I don't know how it faded really, just petered out. I never really lost touch with the hobby, just not flown.

Timbo, read the required stuff, thanks for the pointers.

David, I haven't got a club/site as yet, getting me gear dusted off and sorted first.

  6. As requested another "Hello" from a returnee.

Been out of the loop (pardon the pun!!) for about 6 years.

I'm a "sort of" beginner because I had just got to flying solo when I lost the faith.
    Not a complete novice though.

REALLY looking forward to getting back in the air.
