  1. I can’t believe this thread has risen like the Phoenix. I found it quite a challenging build but I never flew it. After completion I went electric and never bothered to convert it. hope all goes well with your build jim
  2. i can't get much information from the LMA website. Does anyone know what the displays are, whether there's a bring and buy and whether or not there are any traders going.
  3. Hi clive, its nice to see the lizzie is still being built. I hope all goes well and i must agree the spats were definitely below standard. I started this build, my model is finished but i still havent flown it. I wanted to get my BMFA 'A" certificate first and get some experience, which i have now done but the weather last year wasnt that helpful. Good luck with the rest of your build. Jim
  4. Hi Stephen, welcome to the forum.I used an SC 52 fourstroke in mine. However i cant say whether it was the right choice or not. I havent flown it yet. I was waiting to get my A cert then get it maidened. Done the former but the weather hasnt been helpful with the latter. jim Edited By rookie jim on 21/07/2012 23:54:11
  5. marioyou have done it again! what a fantastic model. congratulations.  cant wait for your next build jim
  6. hi marioi have been following your build with great interest. your skill amazes me. good luck with the maiden which i am sure will be as good as your build. all the best  jim
  7. A message for TN. I managed with a great deal of help from the forum to complete the lysander as my first build although it hasnt flown yet so i dont know how good a build it was. As i am very new to building (and i am sure there are many out there who would like to have a go at building) it would be really helpful if some additional building instructions and tips were available. The article in the RCME is fine for those with some experience but for myself and others like me extra help would be a godsend.  personally i would pay a bit extra. jim
  8. my vote would go to a planes that are not readily available as builds and in some cases not that common ( as far as i can see anyway) as ARTF.  raf chipmunk trainer, perhaps with the option of canadian airforce canopy mustang zero  ideally the model should be capable of a realistic priced electric conversion. i.e 4s or 5s maximum   jim
  9. hi stephen i havent got a flight plan as such. My intention is to get someone from the club who has done a lot of builds to give it a lookover before any flying is contemplated. I then intend to wait, not only for good weather but also until i have got my A certificate. I am hoping that will be in 1st 3 months of 2011 but i have now probably tempted fate with that.  I want to get practice in after my test so i am looking at easter of thereabouts and hopefully i can persuade an experienced pilot to give its maiden. however i am not too optimistic of getting a WILLING volunteer. Jim
  10. thanks stepheni am glad you could see the logic behind the finish  jim
  11. Terry, very kind of you but now i know a bit more about what i dont know i think i had better stick with the moniker.   Jim
  12. Mario. Thank you. i must admit its great to see the finished model.  starting and contributing to this forum has been a wonderful experience and i hope we can all get together on another build in the near future.  by the way i think you are doing a fantastic job on your halifax build. I get an email of each posting so i can keep up to date with progress and it is one of my bookmarks.   jim
  13. Hi all, I have finished, well more or less. I will now put away until the better weather before i try a maiden flight. by then i hope to have more experience possibly to attempt it myself. I havent finished the trimming yet or run the engine in but that can wait.  I am a little disappointed with the hinges being white and showing, but i can live with that. Not sure whether i will use that prop or get a black one. its a 12x6 but i wonder whether a 13 may be better. I have weighed it and its 7lb 2 -3 oz.   I am not sure how well it will fly and i will certainly have more work to do on trim and servos before it goes in the air. In a way i wouldnt mind if i didnt fly it for some time.  Its been a labour of love and has taken 12 months give or take. next build is something a bit easier( i Hope!) using a kit. D&B sports and scale jodel  This forum has been a tremendous help and boost and i would just like to thank everyone who has given advice , help and encouragement.  here are some pics ">" width="350" alt="" />">" width="350" alt="" /> ">" width="350" alt="" /> "> I hope photos come out ok . every time i attached one i got two images. Not sure whether there should be any roundels on top and / or bottom of wings. Jim
