  1. HI ALL,   Since the weather is not really great for flying, i decided to build my Seagull Sparrowhawk. I am in my final stages, but a bit confused with the throttle setup of the DLE 30CC. The throttle linkage on the engine has some sort of a spring that would cause tension on the servo. should i remote the spring?? WIll this tension cause stress on the servo. ?? the spring is beside the low/high/ideal needle.   Thanks a million
  2. HI Stan,    Welcome to the hobby , you came to the right place, everyone here is so friendly and helpful.. this is a real great place to meet people in the hobby ask questions and get advice... Wishing you all the best    Cheers & Merry Xmas everyone
  3. Thank you.... for all the  information... i think i will go with CA pinning method just to make sure things don't go wrong.... Cheers
  4. OK, so i have ordered everything i need to start putting this plane together. I went for the DLE 30 CC engine, the price and power was right. Now before i start getting all excited and making mistakes. I would like to know if the CA hinges that came with the kit are good for the job. I have never used CA hinges before, so would like to take your opinion on which road to take.      Thanks and Merry Xmas   Cheers
  5. Thanks for all the info..    I think i will stick with the sub C.. i do have a charger, but from what i can tell the life Battery is rated at 6.6V... servos work at 6.0V.. which mean i will need a regulator.. which i don't want.
  6. what about the link i made, its a a 5 cell sub c.. can you check please..    Thanks   With a lip i will need a regulator .. which i am not very keen on buying
  7. HI All,    I am currently buying the stuff needed to start my build.. below are the specs: 1- seagull sparrow hawk 1.8   gear : Dle 30cc HD645MG 6 servos 2000mah for engine egnition Ar7000 Receiver     what is the needed Nimh battery capacity for this setup to play it safe?
  8. THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH... THIS HELPED A LOT....    THANK YOUUUUUUUUUU
  9. HI All,    This might seem like a real dumb question to many, but this is the first gas engine i use and i want to make sure i get everything right. When looking at the engine the propeller seem to need four screws to mount on the motor.. do i need to get a spinner with four screws.. or do i have to make holes in the spinner i get... a bit lost here..   Thanks
  10. How about the HS 5645MG And has anyone heard about the power hd servos? Thx a million Cheers
  11. Has anyone used these servos?
  12. Hi Guys,    On a separate note... any recommendations for the servos?  I am looking for digital metal gear servos to handle the gas vibrations..... but price is also an issue   I am on budget.. my wife is killing me
  13. thanks Lee, Biggles' Elder Brother... I think i will go for the Dle 30CC.. over powered is way better than just adequate power ... thank you both for your advice.
  14. HI All,    I have asked this question before, but i need your advise a bit more... I have the seagull SparrowHawk for Horizon Hobby the manual says 1.6 2 stroke or 1.8 to 2.0 four stroke and 20 to 26 cc gas engine...    I am thinking of a DlE engine, the price is good and its suits my budget.. the 2 engines in question are the DlE 20 CC or the DLE 30CC   my flying buddies are telling me to go for the 30 cc, but its on the heavy side.. and the 20CC is 980 Grams, while the 30CC is almost 1.4KG...   Whats your recommendations.... also with regards to the power, will the 20CC suffice.. or do i need the extra power.. also any other engine suggestions in the same price range is welcomed...   On another note.. this will be my first gas powered plane.... what do i need to do with the gas tank.. do i need special tubing.. or any other modification so i can plan that as well...   Thanks a million... Cheers
  15. Thx David, Tony , Got it fixed.. Thx a million. I have q couple of other questions related to setting the idle on my heli. Should I make another thread or ask on this one?
  16. HI All,   On my thunder tiger 50 Heli engine, there are 4 hex screws that hold the backplate. one of the screws removed the thread on the engine itself.. so it will not tighten. I used a slightly longer screw to create a new thread and it seems to hold. Now is there another way to keep the backplate on. this engine is still new and i don't have the money at the moment to buy a new case. also how will i know if the backplate is causing problems?     Thanks
  17. The plane came with CA hinges... What do you guys think of CA hinges on a model this size? Thanks Cheers
  18. Hi Peter     Glad to be of service. this is what this site is all about, and what really differentiate it from other sites, everyone is friendly and helpful, its like making friends without even seeing them..... which is just great....     A while ago, i said that these will be my last engines. No more Evo.. But i have to be honest, after removing the limiters on all my evo engines, they just run great. I am just against the design with the limiters.... My first plane had an evo trainer engine, and i used to get a zillion dead sticks... now my son flies that plane, and used to suffer... i removed the limiters on that engine, and he had a great flight today.. with good transitions, nice ideal and for the first time no dead sticks.... Thank you
  19. Hi Peter,  They do have limiters so as not to over screw. I contacted Support and was told to remove the limiters on the engine and recheck my needle settings. and the outcome was great.. my engine transitioned from low to high. And i had no dead sticks. My only problem was that the engine was getting hot in the air, because it was too lean.  So I am going to richen it a bit and see what happens.     Cheers
  20. my mistake, but i did not bench ran it..
  21. HI flanker, Lee,All   lee: I did not tested the engine on the bench...... i don't know where u got that from    Flanker: I went with your advice and the advice of others...  First i removed the limiters on the high/low speed needle.... then recheck all my connections to the tank and Carb.I changed all the tubing.. and check for any leaks at the muffler end..    results: smooth transition from low to high.. engine runs really well, i did notice that in the air the engine gets on the leaner side, so i will reduce the rpm by 300 to 400 using my tachometer and will make another test flight to see..    I want to thank you all for being so helpful and from having the patients and time to help me. I will keep you posted flanker
  22. Hi Lee,    I emailed Horizon hobby, and this was their reply "This plane can take up to a 26cc gas engine the G20 will work for the plane"   Cheers
  23. HI Lee,    Yes i know it will be lower compared to the four stoke. the 120 is 2.1 compared to 1.7... The reason i asked is because i saw a video with someone flying it on the G20 and i trust those who are wiser than me to guide me to the best option and i am still learning so its better to ask than be sorry.. cheers
