  1. I am trying to get Top Flite Lustrekote flat clear but it seems pretty impossible to find in the UK. Anybody know where this is available?
  2. Thanks Bob. Using petrol in my Mustang so no nitro near it! Obviously if raw fuel is spilt it will cause an issue so will need to watch this.
  3. Anyway, back to my question, any ideas for a clear coat to seal the weathering?
  4. I do see your point. My model is a TF Mustang and has the dark olive drab on top. The black doesnt look bad on this colour but it will be overpronounced on the silver underside.
  5. To be honest, I quite like the black panel lines as it simulates the dirt / oil which gets trapped in the panels. Each to their own though, and it doesnt work on all planes...
  6. Hey guys I have a Top Flite P51 Mustang 60 size covered with Monokote. I am adding panel lines, weathering etc but am running a petrol engine so need to seal it all in. Will Flair Matt clear spray do the job here? I would use Top Flite Lustrecoat but it is impossible to find here and due to it being classed as dangerous goods, cant be sent via airmail.... Thanks Wes
  7. Hey Tim. Do you run a seperate battery for you lados? I also have them in my Top Flite Mustang 60 size but running them from the rx battery, 6v 2500mah NIMH.
  8. Hi Steve   I oftened wondered about the scenario you mention with the Pitts muffler and think you have hit the nail on the head. It makes complete sense and is definately what was/is happening with my setup. I disconnected the line from the Pitts muffler and carb and the fuel comes out of both at the same time when the tank is full. As you mention, a lot of fuel has to flow into the muffler before exiting the outlets and the pressure increases during this time, forcing fuel into the carb.
  9. I installed a plastic fuel line clamp on the tubing going from the tank to the carb. Every time I refuel, I clamp the tube. This works perfectly and I can see when the tank is full as fuel comes out the exhaust. Just have to remember to release the clamp after! This is what I use: http://www.wheelspinmodels.co.uk/i/89594/   Wes
  10. I see there are some plastic type clamps available which may just do the job for now. Luckily I have a large opening under the cowl where I can easily access the feed line.
  11. Thanks Ben, all makes good sense to me. I will initially remove the T piece, clamp the feed line and pump alot slower when filling as I am using a hand pump.   Wes
  12. Hi Bob   Good advice and things I hadnt thought of. I will actually be able to gain access to the feed pipe once the cowl is on so will be able to clamp it off whilst fueling to prevent fuel from being forced into the carb. Also, now that you mention raising the nose, I have been doing these filling tests with the plane level on a plane stand....normally she will be nose up when resting on the gear so this will most likely help.   Thanks for taking the time to reply!   Wes
  13. Here is a pic of my carb vs tank height. Difficult to tell the exact difference due to the angle but it is higher than the needle valve. The carb isnt flooding when she is standing with fuel in the tank though. Only when I am filling, it forces fuel into the carb before I see any fuel come out the mufffler.
  14. Hi E.D   Thanks for the reply and advice. My 3 line tank is setup exactly as you say above. The carb is a bit lower than the center line of the tank, but by very little. I took the tank out and filled it whilst watching the vent line and the carb line. When the tank is full, both lines have fuel exiting them at the same time...   The carb gets flooded before I even see anything exit the muffler. Could this be as its a Keleo Pitts style muffler?   Inside the tank, the vent line is a tube bent upwards as normal and then I have a clunk on the carb line and the filling line to make it easier to empty the tank if needs be. This is my first 4 stroke but have been running 2 strokes for many years with no such issues.   Wes
  15. Hi all   I am running a three line setup on my Hangar 9 Mustang with a Saito 125 and Pitts style muffler. In order to see when the tank is full, I have installed a T piece in the vent line which terminates in a dot, exiting the cowl. (next to the filler line) My problem is that as soon as the fuel runs out of this line indicating a full tank, a whole load has got through to the carb and flooded it making things rather messy...I have the carb at idle but should I actually be closing the barrel altogether by using the trim or do I actually have to close the needle valve completely in order to stop the carb from receiving fuel?

Hey Timbo, sorry, didnt realize that was classed as a swear word! Will refrain from using it in the future. Anyway, I do like the idea of the prepaid card and will be looking at getting one asap.Edited By Wesley Rowe on 26/01/2010 17:42:09
