  1. Hi, the best way i`ve ever been shown on how to transfer drawings to wood is by using plastic draughtsmans paper and a nice soft pencil (HB) preferably of the propelling type with 0.05 lead...... it`s so simple that I can`t envisage anyone who uses it reverting back to any other method. Just cover plan or area required , obviously making sure it can`t move and trace the part , ensuring you run pencil over it a few times, as it leaves more lead , turn it over onto ply or balsa sheet and gently rub over your traced lines as you would rub "Letracet" , I use the blunt metal eraser cover on the pen , but anything that won`t snag the plastic paper is fine. It`s far far better than ordinary tracing paper and the method leaves carbon paper miles behind , nor does it tear as easily as tracing paper either , and is there for reuse if necessary. It could also be used to trace a wing to build the opposite panel .
  2. I agree totally with Tony Harrison and one or two others , NO way should we have to be registered , anyone up to no good wouldn`t bother anyway , and if you saw a drone flying somewhere it shouldn`t be , then how the hell are you going to trace the pilot of it , who could be a mile or more away , and let`s face it , if you`re up to no good you`d have the top range equipment which can be programmed to return home and land at any destination . As for registration of the actual model , so long as Joe Bloggs sees some kind of registration on a model he`s not going to question it`s legitimacy !!! No way could any such scheme be policed / checked / monitored , call it what you will . If the do gooders don`t stop poking their noses in , then we`ll eventually loose another of our great hobbies ! There`s always some one or some group of people who don`t like what others do , or don`t follow the same line of thought . Me personally I don`t like football , infact I hate it with a passion, but I don`t want to put restrictions on people that do like football . Leave us genuine modellers alone , keep your big noses and unwanted meddling fingers out of our pastime. All the legislation in the world hasn`t stopped gun or knife crime , and neither will it stop terrorism or any other idiot uses of model aircraft by those who do not wish to comform . WE WILL LOOSE THE HOBBY IF RESTRICTIONS ARE BROUGHT IN BY THE GOVERNMENT , people just won`t want the hassle involved just to fly a model plane . It will also have a knock on effect amongst the local model shops .
  3. Hi John, I just added a post on here but for some reason , when I clicked "Add Posting " the post disappeared . But incase it doesn`t turn up i`ll just roughly outline what I just wrote . I don`t know if you`ll remember me, but you offered to drop by where I worked in A.H.Designs the pilot people in Rhyl in North Wales and drop me off a plan pack of the Maestro (one of the first I think, as i`m sure you hadn`t started production at the time ) , which you duly did , if my memory serves me correctly you were going to pass Rhyl on the A55 on your way to take your daughter (I think ) to University there , I think you were from Scotland , so you had quite a journey . I still have the Maestro in a partly built state , but the veneers are de-laminating from the wings now , although I think the turtle decks are ok, as they are fitted , maybe I could remove the veneer and skin the wings with 3/32nd balsa??? I would love to knoew if lemonitart , the gentleman looking for a kit or plan ever managed to find one? I`m hoping to get back into building very soon , I haven`t done much balsa bashing in recent years , and I can`t be bothered with ARTF stuff , it`s not modelling in any sense of the word , so I may even finish it . John Davies.
