  1. The majority of HOBBYKING buyers, and there is no doubt whatsoever that there are many, do so mainly for economic reasons. HOBBYKING have built a huge following of returning online buyers simply because of the fantastic value they offer for the products they have available. I suspect that many of these products are produced by the same manufacturers that have supplied the market for many years, under differant Brand names, but, as with many other forms of retailing, the greed of retailers due to having a under competitive pricing regime has led to the downfall of many outlets, simply, as has already been mentioned, someone like Aldi/Lidl etc. have come along, and in this instance it is HOBBYKING, and supplied in the main what the customer wants at a far cheaper price, and more often than not at as good a quality level. I am a believer in supporting local retailers, if they are competitive, but it cannot be justified purely out of sentiment in the present climate of cost cutting where it is a case of pure economic sense. It is a big market place out there and the retailers in our hobby/sport need to take a leaf out of the huge Supermarket chains books in light of Aldi/Lidl competition, and look at ways and means to get better deals from not only the Manufacturers, but just as importantly, the Wholesalers, to get feet moving back to the "local model shop" for what they need.
  2. I have a VMAR P51 MUSTANG, or so i am told, which needs to be stripped and refurbed. The model is the one of two piece wing assembly which has two small bolts in the root rib that go into the fus. also an ally tube for extra strength. The belly pan is missing but i can make a new one okay, what i need to know is, should the pan be a screw fixed part or magnetic? also, does it double as the battery tray. Should add that it is i.c. powered. Any help much appreciated if you have had one of these in the past, i can only find manual for the one piece wing model which i assume was/is a later version. Cheers Den.
  3. Thanks for your help Tim, it will be very much appreciated. The lead has the same connector plug at each end, ie, connecting to the board and also to connect to the charger. You may well be right in your suggestion that it is an XH style that is needed on one end. My camera won't allow me to take clear enough pics. of them but if you have a contact no. i can give you a call and hopefully describe them to you.
  4. I have a Ripmax Pro Peak Sigma EQ AC/DC Intelligent Charger Balancer which is about five years old, in as new condition, and i have recently bought a balancer board ( XT60) which will charge up to six batteries at once. My problem is that the lead which connects the board to the charger has a different plug to the aperture on the charger, result, cannot connect.!!!! Can anyone tell me if i can obtain a lead with the right connector to get over this problem. I should mention that when purchased the charger balancing plug adapter boards were supplied to suit Impulse, Flight Power, and Thunder Tiger batteries. Help please.!!!
  5. Hi John, i had the same problem with an SC46, pin sheared off. I was told, whether rightly or wrongly, that you could get a replacement pin but even so a lot of messing around fitting it. Alternative was a replacement crankshaft which managed to get off "Fleebay" Try Hobbyking, they carry ASP spares, very reasonable prices.
  6. Can any of you guys of many years flying logged tell me the C of G for a Kyosho Sensation, designed i believe several years ago by Hanno Prettner, also the control throws. Your help much appreciated.
  7. Can any of you guys tell me where i could obtain  in cowl silencers to fit on four strokes. I have a couple of ASP61s that i would like to use them on if available. Edited By dennis comeau 1 on 19/12/2012 23:10:41
  8. Has anyone got, or knows where, to obtain the build instructions for a vmar tucano 62in w/span. The particular model i have obtained has R A F markings with the serial no. ZF138, and is in red and white colours. It was put together dry to hang from a bedroom ceiling. I have the u/c, tank and servo tray but no engine mount which i believe was an alloy one. As i have no experiance of vmar models the bulkhead and firewall is a newey to me. Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated also power unit suggestions.
  9. Bob, we had a slight crosswind nothing much and it was quite warm but not excessive. When i first flew it i had an APC 11x7 on, but was advised to change to a fourstroke prop ie.Master aiscrew 12x6. Thinking about it , may well be that the rev. output might have reduced slightly, but hardly noticeable. Unfortuantly i did'nt take any tacho. readings prior to this, probably flown about half a dozen flights on both props.
  10. Steve, the fuel is the same, grass no significant change, cylinder head screws are all tight. The valves have been set as per the makers spec. What i will do is try flying it again as soon as poss. weather permitting, and see what happens.
  11. Thanks all for suggestions re. cleaning my engine, pleased to report that although not looking like brand new, i am very pleased with the condition now, all stripped, cleaned oiled and reassembled ready to run again in another airframe. Many thanks for your help. Den.
  12. I have a SC52fs on the front of the Seagull PC9, Roulettes version 63" wingspan. Although a tad lapsy on take off the engine has handled the plane pretty good, until last weekend Sat. 28/7/12 when i had to abort two take off attempts due to lack of ground speed enabling rotation, we have a grass strip, never a problem before. I removed the engine to check it and adjusted the valve clearances, all okay on that front, however, on starting and running the engine, the maximum revs. shown were 8900/9000 on a tacho. The specs. give 9800 so as you can see i am down about 900. Am i right to assume that what i am achieving at the moment should be sufficient to fly the plane? Can anyone suggest what might be the problem. The engine is pretty new with not much flying time, also i have changed the plug, before someone suggests doing so. 12X6 prop fitted. Cheers Den.
  13. Ooooops. Thanks for that, i should have edited the date, should have been the 7th month. Glad to see the post is being read properly.
  14. Anybody out there who can suggest the best way to clean up an engine that is looking very sorry for itself. Let me explain, about two months ago i lost a plane in a field of rapeseed, the tallest i have ever seen. Anyway i managed to retrieve the wreckage today, 24/8/12 and although the airframe is shot the radio gear appears okay, obviously i will test thoroughly, the problem is the engine is need of some hard cleaning, the rain has affected it, but it is sound otherwise. Suggestions please to restore it to it's former glory, i should add it is an SC52 with only running in time and a couple of flights. Cheers Den.
  15. Thanks for your replies lads. Am i right in assuming that you mean run the download on a laptop? If so, this is what i am trying to quantify. I have the sim on my PC, and am going to purchase a laptop, thus wanting to make sure that i get one with the right spec. to make sure it runs ok. As i said in the initial post, Phoenix give minimum reqs, not recommended ones, which is where i am confused.
