  1. Hi David !   I knew it....All the best from  Jo
  2. After David Perry1 lectures, there is nothing to add, except to accept everything stated...Thanks so much. Information for  Alan B.....according to my intuition ,David is educated profi flyer..then implies a sharp vision and skillful hands ! Rgds Jo p.s. It is nice to know that there are smart and nice people
  3. Hi Hogster ! ABC engines du not have piston rings. You should be aware of the fact that ABC-type engines will have a TIGHT  "feel"when the crankshaft is turned over by hand. This is because the cylinder liner is made with SLIGHT TAPER towards the top. When the engine is cold ,plus coldly weather outside, the piston will barely fit.Once the engine is running, the heat will couse  the liner to expend to the proper fit,so don't be concerned if an ABC engine is tight when you try to turn it over and  might even squeak until thoroughly broken in.Please use the TEST STAND for  2 or 3 fuel tanks,is much safer, electric starter , starter stick and hair dryer (if the outside temps is low). p.s. All this  and more  know everyone here present...especially John Privett and Stephen Grigg.  Dear Hogster I want to take your finger to recover as soon as possible.Best Rgds Jo.
  4. I have made, just make and I will make mistakes in modeling and otherwise. It is a privilege of the modelers....we are still young ! It was on my first international competition in free flight ,class F-1-C , "LUCKO 70".I performed with a smoll climber driven by US Cox engine 0.8 ccm black widow.I was warned that Cox engine likes to rotate beckvard, but  at the moment of the first start,I was so excited.....and I forgot all the advices and instructions. My little climber ,driving by beckward Cox engine , hit directly in referee bench......ups....fortunately without wounding the above.Weather report for competition day was fogy and calm....and for me was very, very RED (I think of my face)!
  5. Strongly agree John Sheehy !And after 40 years in modeling,I have a problem with the cowling for an old trainer...let alone design and build. There are no easy tasks,in RC, dears beginners
  6. Hi Tony ! Not easy to make four i.c. ,should have the courage and knowledge..Bravo Maestro
  7. Hi Ed ! Chris is understandable, cleary and accurately explained :what is a tow line glider.Inthe free- flight ,class F-1-A,you can use nylon rope (0.5 mm) 50 mtrs in lenght ,hooked on model and marked by red flag(referee observation-to start the stopwatch).Competitor has the right to seek thermal hoist within 3-5 minutes,or less in the fly-off(referee decision) Than unhook  and  start one of 7 regular flights.Chris also explained usage of the model special hooks(there are several types as Rusian,Selig ..etc).And finaly he mentioned DT timers ,at first old one the snuffer tube, later mehanical and today electronics DT timers. Best Rgds from: Self-styled lowyer of Mr.Chris Jordan  and ex-free flight competitor J.V.Mess (nick name speaks enough)

Started  in 13 in the local aeroclub .I flew :gliders, rubbers and finally free flight category F-1-C,"climber",with engine "Rossi -15" 2.5 ccm rpm 30000,at that time one of the best and expensive product(Modena, Italy 1970.) Became national champion...married got kids...etc.    In the nineties,I moved to RC & ARTF ,the logical choise ,suitable my age and experience...lol

  13. Ed ! In my twenties,I was a builder and competitor (free flight) ,then a licensed full size pilot(coast guard),in my forty I was a RC pilot and builder...Then air-force war...,and now retired  I'm 90% RC pilot and 10% the fixer of RTF sets.
