  1. Thanks for all that. I have been to the Great Orme twice before but have not managed to see anyone flying there. I will be there for 5 days (staying in Llandudno ) so I'm not far away. I usually take the the Little train up and have a wander about. Will keep my eyes peeled for anything. Thanks again. Stephen.
  2. A shout out to anyone who flys on the Great Orme. I will be travelling from Ireland on the 26th July to 1st August and was wondering if there will be any flying during this time when I could spectate please? Would love to see some while I was in the area. Always admire any photos in the mag of the action there. Regards Stephen.
  3. Well it seems to have worked up to a point. I have now been able to download back to Jan of this year. It seems anything previous to this is off limits. I can't understand why this would be as Pocketmags would surely have a list containing all the digital issues I paid for. Anyway thanks for the help David in resolving this issue (sort of). I really couldn't be bothered pursuing it any further and I think I might let this subscription run it's course and then wind it up. Best regards and happy flying. Over and out. Stephen.
  4. This could be a RESULT!! Well done Dave. I can hopefully take my digital issues on walkabout with me and bore lots more people with my rants regarding this wonderful hobby!! Let you know what happens. Stephen.
  5. Well Terry I'm glad you are sorted. I'm no further on as yet. I have only been able to download the latest issue(June) using the RCM&E app on my iPad. There is an option in the settings to " Restore purchases through a Pocketmags account". I tried this but to no avail. I had a response from Kevin at Magazine Cloner Support asking for a screenshot of my active subscription and details of when it began and ends. I tried to give this info but am not sure when it started and it does not end as my subscription just continues through direct debit. Will wait and see what happens next. It looks to me like some sort of bug with the old issues. The current issue loaded no probs but the previous ones do not as yet, even though when I log into the Pocketmags account it says "Success". If this is a problem with myself I will be quite happy to eat a large portion of Humble Pie and sit in the corner in a large pointed hat with a "D" on it , so long as there is a solution to my problem.  By the way there is an update to the App which I have done but this does not fix the problem.  I notice in the update it says " Restore purchases fix ".  NOT AS YET for me anyway.   Waiting in anticipation .........Stephen. 6. Thanks for that David. I understand what you are saying but I only want to download the issues that I have bought with my digital subscription. I have an active sub with pocket mags and that should allow me to access the content I have bought through this system. I only want access to the items I have paid for. That is fair isn't it? Thanks for looking into this for me but I would like to see some resolution to the problem please. Kind regards Stephen.
  7. Yes Tony. I agree completely. I think the new systems are great. Even an old hand like me enjoys something new. This hobby never ceases to amaze. Stephen. PS. Great sounds!!!
  8. Dear Bill-B thanks for the kind words and I appreciate all you say. Just one last point. There are some new developments in the speaker world too. There is a new system just developed by Mr RCSound whereby the sound is amplified by the airframe of the model particularly when it is made of foam. They are sound transducers and are light weight. Check out the MrRCFlying YouTube site and this will all become clear. There is still some weight involved but with careful mounting ie on the CofG it works very well. Best regards to you Stephen.  Here is a link http://youtu.be/-B8gsPTzm8w Edited By stephen mcfarland on 13/05/2014 21:07:05 Edited By stephen mcfarland on 13/05/2014 21:16:07 Edited By stephen mcfarland on 13/05/2014 21:37:26
  9. Hi there. I'm having issues with my subscription also. I have a digital subscription only and tried to download all the back issues since start of this year to no avail. I used to view copies online using the RCM&E app then discovered that I could download issues to IPad to read when offline. I was able to download current issue(June ) but not previous issues in the Newsstand app. All the digital issues I paid for cannot be downloaded and I have had no reply on email so far. Might try and ring them. regards Stephen.
  10. Dear Bill-B. I can assure you my tongue was no where near my cheek when I posted my reply . I was trying to give an alternative to the sound created by the EDF unit . It is not such a crazy idea as you seem to think it is. Sound cards are being used more and more nowadays, they are compact and lightweight , also not complicated at all. I found it quite offensive that you dismissed my thoughts so easily when all I attempted to point out was an another possible route to achieve a realistic turbine sound .I am not so young anymore but I am open to many ideas that are available in today's market place. Any way enjoy your flying and remember Never say Never. Stephen.
  11. Never mind about getting the sound from the fan. Try MrRCsSound system. This is by far the best way to re create the turbine sound. I fitted one of the systems to my Mustang(not turbine sound of course) and was the best thing I ever did. So realistic as it starts up when throttle is opened and sound changes on throttle movement. Regards Stephen.
  12. WOW. That was quick ! Wasn't expecting a reply so soon. Good work John. Now that you mention it I do remember a long time ago seeing a spray can of window tint in my local motor factors. Will look into it further and let you know how I get on. Thanks again. Stephen.
  13. Just wondering does anyone have any tips on how to tint a canopy. I want to do this on a Schweizer scale heli. Nothing too dark. Tried the sticky film but too hard to apply because of curve in screen. Any ideas anyone?
  14. I have just built a 450 size quad like the ones featured by Andrew Russell above and must agree that they are great fun on a budget. I sourced parts from a few places and it cost £130.00 to get in the air. I would recommend the Kk2 board from Hobbyking. Easy to programme and very satisfying when it comes together. I think everyone should give it a try !!!!
  15. Nice job Andy! As the old saying goes, 'If it looks right it will fly right.' This looks very good indeed,,good luck with it and look forward to seeing some shots of the S-Pou when it is done.Stephen.................Edited By stephen mcfarland on 07/02/2012 17:12:03
  16. Yeah, they are all great, the problem is once you get started it's hard to stop!!! Micron Radio Control have everything you need and great advice if you are stuck with anything. Stephen
  17. Also take a look at February 2011 Fly Electric column as there is a complete build of the airframe. Stephen....
  18. Found that artical on the S-Pou.If you can take a look at the Fly Elictric column in the March 2011 RCM&E on page 52 you will find all you need to know about the gear and how to fit it. Hope this helps, if you can't get the artical let me know and i can work something out for you. Stephen...............
  19. If I remember there is a build and review in one of the RCM&E mags,If I get a chance I will look it out for you and let you know. The Sukhoi gear is ideal for it.Stephen..................
  20. Thanks for the thoughts on this subject. Most 50 size helis out there are inexpensive and have plenty of scale bodies available for them so it would be a logical step to fit a petrol engine if such were about. There is less vibration than nitro and with the right set up almost no smoke and I think they sound great. Electric is very good these days but I just could'nt be bothered with all that charging and then having to wait about for a recharge. Mix up some petrol and fly all day for a fraction of the cost.I would sell up my nitro models and buy a gasser before any similar size electric model.I will stick with the 450 size leccy models because they are more cost effective.Cheers and nice to here from you....... Stephen.
  21. Yeah that's really nice.Had a look at those sites and they are very good.Liked the helibug one, looks like he has got that sorted pretty well. In my younger days I would have tried something like that just for the hell of it but these days I am much less eager. That's old age for you!!! I will try Just Engines and pick their brains on the subject and keep posting on the feedback.
  22. Cheers, I will keep looking, like your photo,is that one of yours?
  23. Yes, it all gets a bit complicated and having returned to the hobby only a few years ago the last thing I could be bothered to do is fiddle about with stuff I know little about.Thats what got me thinking about a lazy solution. I always look for the easy way out!!! I suppose it comes down to the Engine manufacturers and if they want to offer something. A 30,50 and 90 size engine would cover almost all helis out there. Not good enough for 3D maybe but then again not everyone wants to fly that way(too old for that stuff, love to watch it though).I might just make some enquiries of Just Engines and get the ball rolling.   So here is an invitation to all the big guns of the model heli engine world, start building petrol equivalant units and you might just be onto a winner. Stephen..........
  24. Yes I have heard of those also, I think the best way to go would be to sell up and invest in a Century Radikal gasser, but I like my helis and know them well, would hate to see them go.Much easier for me to stick in a petrol motor, you never know it might be easy someday.
