  2. I see you are suffering from flying withdrawal symptoms. The build is looking good so far. I will have to get my Hanriot in the air again so we can do a bit of formation flying, I have enough time i think before your ready me thinks, i will have to concentrate on one as I keep flipping between the Fokker DXX1, the Tiger Moth and I am recovering the Jenny as I speak. The weather might be ok next weekend Cheers
  3. come on pete I want a glowing pannel, There is plenty of time it's still raining
  4. hi are you looking for a scale build if so here is a good link for some very nice kits http://www.gliderworkshop.com/ (some are short kits) or if you like tobuid from plans check out http://www.scalesoaring.co.uk/VINTAGE/Plans/Plansindex.html for inperation cheers
  5. Inaccurate plans and cut parts have put many people off building from plans, it nearly put me off building. it took some time trolling around to find out who did accurate plans, hence accurate cut parts. I think a few companies have seen this hand have revised things and i hope this is so in this case, is it an old Precedent kit ? stiff upper lip, keep going and you shall overcome and have a nice flying model in the end.
  6. Looking good . And you mised the dodge the hail game this weakend. it was three flights ony and I thought I should of done like wise and staid at home and worked some more on the fokker. The tigger is distracting me! i shal have to take insperation from your speed of build and consentrated on the one till finnised. But engine choice is my delemma at the moment.
  7. Hi I have converted atx PC power supplies to power my 12v chargers etc and they have been very good and as the post be for and putting lamps on is a must. this has been a very cheep method of getting reliable regulated 12v power supplies, but as high power lipo etc have become more numerous the need for high out puts has be come a necessity. The solution and best and cheapest way of getting high power outputs is to use old server power suppies, they are buit to a high standard a lot better than the generic pc ones available. Thes power supplies will give 45A easily at 12volts. most numerous is Hewlett pacard server switching power supply HP DPS-600PB like this one avail able on eby http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251014979830 very cheep and easily converted. A thread that shows conversion here http://www.rcmf.co.uk/4um/index.php/topic,90276.msg1047696.html#msg1047696 Hops it helps Cheer R
  8. At this rate you will be framed up by christmas
  9. The undercarriage you using is it from Falcon-aviation **LINK** or from Falconmodels' **LINK** lovely 1/4 scale tiger moth kit or are they the same enterprise or linked in some way. It can be a bit confusing when company have similar names
  10. Hi I don't know of any other glow driver system that monitors resistance of the plug to maintain set optimal temp so saving a lot of battery. There is another system I know of which pulses the power to the plugs but does not monitor, is the one from Sonitronics **LINK** over in the USA They are the best value system for 4 or more cylinders and their glow plug connectors are VERY good the only draw back is 4.8v nimh batteries only where the South Herts one is able to use nmh and lipo single cells so a big weight saving. If it was me I would give SHM one another go. just my pennys worth
  11. Ian if it is a south herts one contact then as they give good service , they are normally very reliable and i have the original one a good few years. It could be somhing very simple like the pot ajuster etc Qwick question how did you test it?
  12. the one you are loking for is by **LINK** very good got an old original and to of the latest twin engine versions. easy starting with boots switch so all hidden in cowl
  13. Just remember to get full power out put on an atx power supply you need to put a load on the +5v side. A outomotive 12v lamp and socket will do(tells you it on as well) between red and common(black normally). This load is needed to get full 12volt out put as they are designed as switching power supplies(an eco thing). If you don't get slightly over 12v this load needs to be increased al little(brighter lamp or a 1 ohm 25watt resister).Pc power supplies are best as laptop ones tend to be of small capacity <160w.
  14. Hi What i did for mine was to convert an old ATX pc power supply(350w). it hase been giving very good service for years now 8+ years. It is not hard to do and there are plenty of old pc laying around with 350w + power supplies. (if you need instructions I will look then up if needed).Mind you in the last few years a lot of off the shelf have become available , like at http://alshobbies.com/shop/cat.php?id=153
