  3. I will inform the last owner that they are still alive and kicking, they do fly very well but loose the engine and the drop like a stone, A few of our club members had them and used them for combat with streamers on the back. I thinks i have some flying shots, If i have i will post them tonight when i get home from work.

  7. My aim is to get the landing slower, but i don't want to compromise lift to much and risk it stalling
  8. Thanks Andy this is great, I don't get to many of the big shows and he has not flown at Wings and Wheels for a few years now..........is he still flying the Comet
  9. Steve Holland.......... yes you are right, it all comes flooding back, i took loads of shots of the ccomet that day but this is the one i like the most, i particularly like the pilot he has in it, i don't know but it looks like the great man himself
  10. Just out a matter of interest the owner of the Comet whose name escapes me at the moment........why can't i remember his name, this man is famous, he has been on Top Gear........I must be getting old my memory is not what it was......... anyway i showed him the photo, he liked so much he wanted a copy and he insisted on paying me for itas well. i got £10....... result
  11. These are some that i took at Wings & Wheels a few years ago, they were taken on a Canon 350D, a little bit of croping but nothing else. hope you like them

  17. Thanks for that Keith, I am not a brave pilot but i will have a play the next time i take it out for a spin.
  18. I have been flying for many years but recently got into fly scale warbirds. I have a 72inch P51 with flaps and retracts. It is a lovely model to fly but i do find that the landings tend to be a bit fast. With the flaps down it just seems to float on for ever The flap angle i am using is about 40 degrees. I would like to have a good ballance between lift and drag. So my question is do i need more flap angle, if so how far can i push it
  19. Posted by John Privett on 25/06/2012 22:37:07: I went on Sunday, thinking it might be a bit of a washout due to the weather. However, it hardly rained at all while I was there and whilst clearly a lot of models that would have been flown (very wisely) stayed on the ground it was certainly a lot better than I feared it might have been. That 80-odd percent (was at 82% or 87% scale?) must be the biggest model I've ever seen fly and the (full-size) Gnats departing and then returning later were an interesting addition to the show. Not sure what the Cessna Citation was doing landing, back-tracking and taking off again... Maybe they dropped somebody off/picked them up at the far end of the runway? And I too got a nice model from the bring and buy for a bargain price. Here's the Pitts (you might need to click on the pic to view it properly as this forum seems to mangle the aspect ratio of pics sometimes) I am a member of the Harlow club and we run the Bring & Buy, we have to have a a two way radio and this is tied in to airfield control. we heard over the radio the private jet that landed was Rod Stewart being droped off as he lives just the other side of Epping.
  20. Great to see you back.........you would think with all of this bad weather we have been having we would all be knocking out airframes like there was no tomorrow, but like you and my sea fury i have not made much progress your last posts.
  21. I am limited to what i can get in the car so 2m or 78 inches is my max. but i do agree the bigger they are the better they fly. I have a 72 inch Mustang that look great in the air.
