  1. Hi Frank,   Thanks for the input.  I have a Walkera 60 at the moment so I'll persevere with that until I admit I will never be able to fly it then follow your suggestions!  I must admit I'm seduced by the mechanical and electronic gorgeousness of rotary wing machines, not to mention the VTOL and hovering capabilities, however your suggestion of the Easy Star makes perfect sense in the cold light of day...   Cheers, Carl.
  2. Thanks for the replies All.   The commercial end of things does look disproportionately expensive, but the suppliers have governmental and local authority budgets to dip into so just add another '0' to the price  £25000.00 for an electric heli??!!!  Even allowing for the bells and whistles, just think about that price for a minute...   I'm sure most subscribers on this forum are in it for fun and just a little YouTube glory; so am I, and why not? The point about overflying and privacy are completely valid and I would be very interested to learn of the legal aspects of this.   Cheers, Carl.
  3. Hi BEB,   Thanks for your reply.  The key fob approach sounds like a great way to start.  I understand that there is post-production 'shake removal' for digital video but haven't looked into the cost of this yet...     It really is an Aladdins cave of goodies after 35 years-worth of developments.  I positively drool to see what's on offer now compared to the MAP plans service (are they still going?), doped nylon and MVVS diesels that were my state-of-the-art when I was last aeromodelling.   Cheers, Carl.
  4. Hi Chris,   Thanks.  I always think about things to their extreme limits and then work back to my budget and ability.  Best get something as near unbreakable as possible and learn to fly first I guess!   Cheers, Carl.
  5. I guess stability, ease of flying and low vibration are paramount.  A decent payload would be a bonus; just how big do these quad flyers come?  Mechanically, the simplicity is very appealing compared to a helicopter - I am really more interested in the video aspect than the modelling aspect.   Cheers, Carl.
  6. Hi All,   My first post so please bear with me!   I am looking to start aerial videography and would welcome more experienced flyers' comments and opinions as to the pros and cons of using either a helicopter or quad flyer as a platform for a small HD video or stills camera.   Thanks in advance, Carl.
  7. HI All.   Well after a 35 year lay-off from modelling (MVVS control line combat in my early teens!) I am ready for a re-start in what is a very different world of models.  Gyros, FPV, quad copters, GPS, OSD.  WOW!!! I like.   My main thrust now will be aerial videography using a heli- or quad-flyer platform.  Hope you will be gentle on my obvious (to you) newbie questions!   Cheers, Carl.
