  1. Has anyone had any problems hitting the balance point of 85 to 95 mm back from leading edge at root. I am guessing that that the undercarriage should be raking forward as per illustrations. I am needing in the region of 8ozs lead in the nose this can surely not be right. I am using batteries in the recommended range.
  2. HIya all, Finally got round to assembling the Riot XL, all went together fine but one thing to be aware of, all the control horns on my model were loose so I spent a couple of hours replacing the screws holding them on and just to be on the safe side a smear of cyano (foam safe of course) on both the horn and the back plate other wise it appears to be a great bit of kit. All I need now is a little less wind and away we go. Regards Alan
  3. Hiya Bob, Many thanks for your input re the riot xl I collected mine today and on checking it over I agree with all your observations. My local model shop (model and hobby world Lancaster) have ordered me some batteries so can't maiden it yet, inthe meantime I will do the mods you have done, thanks again. By the way the model shop is fantastic if you are ever up this way call in for a coffee they are a majic bunch of lads. Kind Regards Alan
  4. hiya folks has anyone assembled a riot xl, I have a smaller one, the ailerons I found awful the the hinges allowed the ailerons to flutter has this been addressed and has the foam cowl been improved cheers Alan
  5. Thanks chaps for all the advice I also spoke to Blackburn Models and ended up with Model Technics Quickfire 16, a little bit pricey at £14 for 1/2 gall but I also have an SC25 and an OS15 to run in so it will be put to good use. I also opted for some after run oil as well I just don't know what to with my pension. Thanks Again Alan
  6. Hiya All, Just bought an sc46 donkey for my new toy but unsure what fuel to use for running it in, any advice welcome please. Also what glow plug should I use, I have a couple of OS no 8 in stock will they be ok. Thanks Alan
  7. Hiya all, Merry Xmas to you all, are the dx8 and dx6 (not dx6i) compatible for wireless buddy. I don't want to stuff my P47 and a mate has offered to test fly it and then hand control over to me ( at 200 mistakes high) but we are both uncomfortable without being on the buddy. Cheers Alan
  8. Hiya Brent, No modelling just to let you know I'm rooting for you and hope your coping with your treatment, keep us informed your forum mates are behind you. Alan
  9. Thanks Guys, I've settled on and bought an OS 15 LA, the build is well under way, l'm not quite sure about the exact position of F3 but will sort it (I hope) the plan is a little unclear, maybe some one out there can make it a bit clearer. Thanks to you chaps who replied about my engine query. Alan
  10. hiya all, I have finally (after 68 years) got round after a long break from model flying to building as opposed to assembling a model. I am building a flair Attila and on researching engines I am leaning towards an sc30 4 stroke, has anyone any experience of this engine and what fuel is suitable cheers alan
  11. 12. Hiya John, I agree the Zephyr is a delightful little floater but I have the same problem as you, did you manage to sort a replacement motor, I dinged mine yesterday and bent the shaft and I knackered the motor getting it out. I've looked on line but with no success. Cheers Alan
  13. hi all, just bought my first "proper" warbird a hanger 9 thunderbolt, what a piece of kit but I'm not convinced that a 61 2stroke is has enough grunt for a 9lb model any thoughts or advice would be welcome. looking forward to Weston tomorrow except for the 6.30 alarm, hope the plastic doesn't go into melt down. cheers Alan
  14. Hiya All Finally got round to putting my zephyr together but there is no clue in the instructions about the prop size. I don't know what the motor is as it was already fitted (ARTF) and there are no markings on it. Has anybody out there built one and if so what prop did you fit. Cheers Alan
  15. Thanks again for your replies, problem solved my LMS sold me the wrong retracts so they have ordered the correct ones eflg100. Alan
